Misc Scouting entry by wing_nut 3/14/2006 9:41 AM
| While in Columbus at CCF, we ended up scouting a few places. I did some research on the old power plant off Spring St. and found that it is the Columbus Electric Light Plant, and may still be in operation. Could have fooled me. There is a water intake structure next door that may be of interest, though. The area is near a police substation, though so it might not be worth it. Checked out the Greenlawn outfall location and found it mostly submerged, but a potentially large drain. Determined that the two large structures south of COSI across the river are being actively demolished. There is a 4ft tall oval outfall near Bicentennial park that is a definite potential site. Related to this is a locked staircase in the park. Similar staircase exists at the 3rd Ave. drain. The two might connect. The Timkin Plant has been demolished. That would have been huge. Ah well. On the bike trail south of Bicentennial park, there is a large grating leading to an underground chamber of some kind. Scouted the Seneca Hotel entrance but did not enter.
