To code Flash, you need Macromedia Flash. I got the Macromedia education suite free with my G4 because I bought it through my college as a student, so.. no idea how much it costs or if its available now, but I do recommend it. It came with Flash, Freehand, Fireworks and Dreamweaver, and I use all of them on a regular basis.

So, I'm not sure what OS you're working with, but Macromedia does offer education versions of their programs that are chock full of tutorials, and links to community websites designed to help you learn their products.

Flash Pro 8 currently costs: $699 USD or if you have an older version the upgrade costs $299 USD

I have the entire Macromedia MX Studio from a couple years ago...included: Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, Freehand, Cold Fusion, Director and a few other goodies. Studio 8 is currently running at $999 USD.

Hope that helps a bit...

Yes, you need Macromedia. It is pricey, but ask around with people you know, especially if you go to a university. There may be someone who already has it. Also if there a graphics lab of some sort most likely the computers will have macromedia and many other programs you might find of interest.

You'll need to play around with it to learn how to use it. I would suggest going through the tutorials, or getting a book from the library. (Libraries are great, everything is free!) If you have the extra money you could also buy a book.

Don't expect to learn it all at once, but if you hack away at it, you'll get it.

Good intentions can lead to bad situations.

Actually, if you're going to a school with a decent media studies program, they probably have a site license. I picked up the Photoshop CS suite free (and legally) from school, and I wasn't an art student at the time.
