Been a while
entry by Xylanic

I have been quite busy in the past seven or eight months and have just now started to push my hobby again. I got involved in a long relationship which failed horribly, and at that time almost completely killed my desire for UE. I also went through a period in which I felt I was too old for any type of UE. (24, 25 in November.) Then, it seems I was wrong, and this is an average age for UE.

So now, I present my return. I'm on vacation this week and have spent a decent amount of time driving around the rural areas where i live in Loudon County. There's a plethora of abandoned farms, houses and homesteads out here. I will be posting some pictures this evening of a few places I have discovered out here. If you take the time to go out into the woods you will be able to locate quite a few AMAZING spots. One in particular is right near Bears Den, off the Appalachian Trail. Rough directions are to go below Bears Den down the first loop of the rollercoaster (towards Berryville, now Purcellville) and head North into the woods. You'll cross a stream and find a somewhat unused hunters trail. Follow this east along the stream and you'll come to an old "Hunting station" where it appears quite a few people have hunted deer, etc, out here. Head North once again through the woods, and you'll eventually come upon a two story home, in the middle of the woods, completely abandoned with no access.

Papers found in the house date it's occupancy to roughly the fifties. A television and many other major appliances remain, in somewhat decent condition. Pictures of the family, water damaged and somewhat aged, are also present, dating back to the fifties as well. Based on the amount of dust on the floor and lack of any type of graffiti or vandalism other then broken windows, I was the first person here in QUITE a while. Chests of books and clothes are upstairs, but it's highly evident that it is not nor has it been occupied.

I will be updating this more often now....

Take Care,

Xy.
