2 drains entry by tick 6/6/2005 2:35 AM
| Went exploring today... Met up with a guy I've been meaning to explore with for a while now, and we tried to map out the Wetnut 29 drain and the Stonewall drain. The mapping project had limited success, but it was still a lot of fun. And I very much enjoyed getting out of the 85-degree weather. My new plan is to go the the city planning office, flash my government ID, and try to get maps of all the navigable drains in town. Coincidentally, the Stonewall drain comes up above ground out back of the office I'd have to go to to get those maps. I've decided that I need a high-end flashlight. I already have a Pelican M6 LED, and it kicks ass, so I'm thinking of buying the regulated 3-watt version. Or, maybe a KL4 5-watt LED module for my Surefire E2e. Either one would set me back $100. I hope my gf doesn't see this.
edit: Oh yeah, there was an eel in the Wetnut 29 drain. A big one. We watched it for a while, and I got to dork out and give a lecture on eels and their life cycle and spawning habits. It was cool.

Ok, so I bought both. And they both kick ass. The Surefire puts out an obscene wall of light, it's great. The Pelican doesn't put out as much light, but it throws a beam a long ways, so it's great for exploring large rooms and such.
