He's been watching. I wonder when he will come out of the woodwork.
I'm going hunting for mysteries, cover me. |

4 stories!!??? I just want to say thanks to you guys. Sure I want to know where everything is but hey, I can rest assured the locations are in your very capable hands/minds. I'll be happy (for now...) to feast upon the odd scrap (pic) you throw this way. I agree 100% about not revealing it here. It's like being a kid and knowing your folks have gotten your present, you REALLY want to know what it is and you hunt like crazy for it. Nowadays I can wait for the surprise
hey! |

Posted by Local Hero Awesome work guys. any guesses as to age of the tunnels or methods? They look pretty rough hewn, so I'm assuming hand picks and whatnot. Very exciting.

A bit more than that.

They look very rough is all I'm saying. I know it would take a long time to pull out that much rock just by hand, but I guess I'm not familiar enough with tunneling techniques to know what else they might have used. I just thought blasting would make a bigger hole...unless they just used less of the stuff. Hmmmm. I'm an idiot.;)

Good eye. That is indeed a 10 million candle-power flashlight, and it lit this massive cavernous space like it was broad daylight. And yes. I said massive and cavernous.

The tunnel was built in the 1910's. The original light fixtures were still in the roof of the tunnel, spaced out every 30 yards or so. Blasting is the only way to do a tunnel like that. That's what dynamite is for, it wouldn't be much use if you could only use it to create large craters.

My partner in crime asked me once -- can't you get a bigger one! But yeah I think there is a 15mil. I bought this one for $25 on sale at crappy tire. The other one...perhaps for another crevasse! Its great...!

Just back online after several days delays after moving (thanks a million, Telus). Let me be (not the first) to say congratulations. Anyone have any history on the space? What with lighting and stuff, it must be purpose built for some reason. Hey, there are tunnels under there.........

Yeah, once I stopped for a second and thought about it, I realized I was being a monkey. A monkey without blasting knowledge.
