You really should take him up on this offer 'Kubs', the beer, the music, a rare taste of above ground night life... Seriously, thanks for the invite VIS, have a good session on Friday. And the logs holding up the Empress? They cut special inspection holes in about 1980, as there were some fears the logs would be rotting. They are not, they are preserved in the muck without oxygen. The same way submerged timber is now being harvested from man made lakes. And they are local Douglas Firs, if I remember correctly.

A.lien- That offer extends to any of the "big 4".

Tanuki actually counts as 2, so your adjustment should reflect that. He's that big.

I think I saw a wall and the address if it makes you feel any better? Haha Sorry. I hate it when that happens. Gotta love technology.

I think we've been through this before. Oh...CT. Read the forum rules re: revealing specifics about locations viz. EXACT LOCATIONS. Do it. Do it now.

thanks Lien,, Next time I stay at the empress I wont worry about the place sinking,, Now how about these native bones,,I thought it was custom for the early native peoples to burry their dead in a ritualistic tunnel and mabie over time this system of tunnels turned into a large network ,which perhaps early victorians did not know about ,when they decided to build all the red brick buildings down town ,, these tunnels probably took on the shape of a pentigram ,just like the crop circles down south ,, this is why large areas of victoria get shut down when these native bones are unearthed ,because sections of tunnel get filled back in to hide the fact that rich land owners downtown "are on" these tunnel like bural chambers,, anyone care to add some thoughts?? thanks,

That drains alright, it's pretty short. The sides look steep near the entrance but it's quite easy getting back up.

Nice looking older style drain or buried creek. There's a similar one in Oak Bay area, (note the safe and vague reference), It's all you'll get from me in a public forum. Your drain shown here is a good size for exploring. Not too cramped at least. You should follow it, and take photos of both ends, and give an estimate of it's length. Post info, but not location.

The other end was waist deep when I was in it.

So I asked one of my history professors about the tunnels... He thinks they exist and said he is having a debate with his partner about it. He also said he's heard about the construction and cistern theories and would love to see any undisputable evidence I find. Other than that, he didn't know much.
