Looks like that's what is going on. I went by there a couple of times, but didn't have the time to take any pictures. https://www.timesc...ospital-1.23618126 The above is also important for those that know. Went for a walk tonight saw lots of Saanich fencing and markers up. I hope they aren't thinking what I'm thinking...

Yeah, we're slowly loosing everything: https://www.vicnew...eplaced-this-year/ The whale skeleton section seems to be on the chopping block too, and there might be more bad news along another route... Weather is clearing up at least, might be a few chances to pay your respects left.

bet ya there's still one place they will not be upgrading because its abandoned. i think you know what i mean. and the store/fisgard/wharf system still has at least 1 entry point. happy 'splorin.

Probably won't be "upgrading" it, but I'd be surprised if it survives the bike lane work. The fact that it's abandoned is just extra reason to fill it in, it's nothing but a liability to the city. Just look at what happened along Fort St last year.

they're doing bike lanes in vic west?

Nah, sorry, I meant Wharf St. They've started on Humboldt already, kinda waiting for them to "discover" what's under Wharf any day now...
|
|
ah well, guess the whole system will all be back filled soon enough. would be great if someone worked for the city and posted shots as they did.
|
|
Pretty soon, Greater Victoria will just be one big bike lane! Seriously though, from the looks of the "Cycling Network" map, they'll be leaving Wharf and Store St alone. CMF

All part of the ongoing forgetting. In the spirit of 'reconciliation,' we might pause to consider and reflect upon the many, many, many instances in this city's history where 'others' were indiscriminately disadvantaged based on race. These tunnels are part of that history, and deserve to be acknowledged. Backfilling them erases that history.

They'd have to go real deep under wharf to find it, The lower one, that is.

Well said Kubla I agree 100%. Same thing with the statue of Sir John, the statue should have been left and the plaque changed, recognizing and honouring that he was our first Prime Minister, but also pointing out sadly that he was a racist and celebrating how far we've come since then. But no we can't offend anyone, we must all be sheltered and safe! Cheers, CMF

Noticed a large pipe or some kind of tunnel being exposed at the Mackenzie Interchange project , Could this tunnel be slowing down construction ? Does anyone have picks of the inside of this tunnel yet ?

You mean the small pipe at the south end of the hole? No person could fit in that pipe! Haha You can see more of the pipe going out of town towards Langford, probably an old storm drain pipe, but not a tunnel. Cheers, CMF

I haven't done much recently, although I have a few places I plan on exploring very soon. Anyway two little tidbits... This was a fun little explore just outside of Victoria about 2 months ago. I was only "allowed" to take 2 pictures though. 1.
2.
I had no idea this tunnel was here, it just popped out at me last weekend while on a walk with my parents. First time out here, my parents had walked by before and had no idea it was there. I apologize for the quality. I wasn't dressed to go exploring, but I'll be back to take more pictures! 1. Until next time, CMF

Just went down through the culvert the other day with the boys. Good to see people are still making good use of the tunnels, there was quite a bit of fresh paint from within the last week. . Heading north under Hillside mall, the culvert branches twice. Has anyone ever crawled through these side branches before or would like to try?
