Posted by Shazam Anyone interested in doing some exploring tonight?
|
I'd suggesting waiting for it to dry out a bit more. We just had the snow melt and it was raining today.

This is a good weekend for going out. Same old, but been meaning to get some better shots of it. Might try to go out again Sunday night.

Always manage to capture the feeling down there with your pictures...well done! I was beginning to think you moved off the island with all your other draining pics!

|
I'd be up for some new adventures later tonight or the next two nights if anyone else is. Message me or make a post on this wall if you're interested

Thanks brandon! Nope, still here! Let me know if you guys feel like going underground again, I'm always happy to go out, schedule permitting.
Shazam, I've offered to go and check out some of the easier drains in town with you before, but you were evasive and just kept asking for info on other tunnels. I have no problems with "armchair explorers", you're knowledgable and I like your contributions here, but I wouldn't expect anyone to go out with you after you've made it clear that you're only interested in the "secret downtown tunnels" and not in the "normal" ones. There is nothing wrong with wanting to know more, and I'm not suggesting you have any malicious intent, but I think the current culture of this forum is such that you're not going to get anything without first putting something out. That said, please do continue to post stories about beating swans off and such (seriously).

Now that's funny-the swan thing. I've never said I wasn't interested in exploring the easier drains-I've been in a couple. My enthusiasm for finding something really cool may have come off as begging for info but that was not my intent. I was merely looking for some help just like I am willing to offer my help to others. And I will point out I've never publicly asked for anyone to divulge any locations to me nor have I revealed any either, I do get what the site is about. I would love for an opportunity to arise and hope it will this year for me to post pictures of some of my adventures. Thus far I have been ill prepared for that side of things. Of course it's raining tonight now so probably not a great time to go out anyway. I also apologize if I seemed evasive-I have a busy schedule myself and it has made it challenging to get into this hobby considering the times one usually has to go out and do these things combined with ones own life-which may include full time jobs, and even kids etc. Honestly, of the interactions I've experienced with people from this thread I can say that I can see how it would be easy to interpret a lot of communications as having been evasive, elusive and aloof-sometimes even totally weird. And occasionally informative. I'm barely 2 yeas into this and most of what I've done has been alone because it's an odd hobby. That's why I've reached out to a few people because no one I already know has any interest in actually doing this. And maybe just maybe there's more out there that hasn't been found yet-and wouldn't that be cool if someone found it. Look at how lit up this thread got for a bit when the original crew posted their first pics of the old tomb of the rat as it were. I just reread the entire thread the other weekend. There's some places I've been interested I think I'm close to, summer is coming-hopefully cool things will happen. I may even beat off a swan just for good measure.

I'm not telling you what you can or cannot ask in public or private, just suggesting a reason why I suspect you're not getting answers from other people either. I know how our conversation went. And just to be clear, I'm not egging anyone on to go crawling in confined spaces, especially not against their will or intuition. I'm suggesting you give up on that and visit the archives/library/uvic/internet instead. You'll find more answers there, and we might get more interesting posts out of it here.

Wait for the "Viewed" counter to overflow to 1,000,000 and crash UER in the next few days.

Most likely a coal chute from what's been discussed on this thread.

this thread is public enough, I notice a few or couple people have been posting pics on fb of late-that's sure to draw the kinds of people who may not have as much respect for such places. Granted most people know about the hall of wonders and fb is kind of inevitable, still. At least we can still count on city hall to deny their existence.

The guy posting on Facebook has only posted darkie and hall of wonders, it's the people commenting that have said where it is, and if you have been though the two you know they're very well known about, he's a nice guy been reading the forum doing research to find things and won't tell people how to get in, I post a picture on my FB from time to time because I know how nuts it drives my friends
