Posted by Luigi ^ ahem... and a full array of detectors and at least a N95 mask. Truth be told it's dangerous as hell at any moment you could walk into your death. ....But who am I to judge.

Should try snaking the drain.

Your mom.
On the topic of conspiracy theories: Anyone find it odd that the Janion and the Johnson Street/Blue Bridge all by chance are being completely reconstructed at the same time in history, in this area that is legend to be a hotbed for underground activity, and the city council just had to have it despite fierce opposition and it turns out the original budget was bs and being severely delayed had been planned 2015 opening even right now there is an apparent work stoppage due to a six-month delay in the steel. ...Just seems odd just the whole ordeal. Also the Superior/Michigan project makes me wonder.

Indeed. I'm certain the various project's engineers, labourers, inspectors, et cetera, spend literally months fretting over the impact of urban legends and conspiracy theories on the overall progress of the blah blah blah.
Oh and a public service announcement: seriously stay out of the storm drain system if nothing else your corpse could clog up the system.

lots of crews out and about doing underground work lately, instuform trucks. are they sealing up the old drains as was suggested previously in this post? maybe its for the best so they can be preserved? the pics won't be as cool though.

Yah they're sealing brick and wood drains. I posted some pictures of what it looks like finished in the draining thread. It's a shame, but I guess it's gotta get done. We'll just have boring concrete/plastic drains left in a few years.
|
|
I saw the pics on the draining thread-was that the old darkie? regardless, i've seen them working on cook street, fort street near foul bay-didn't know there were any old brick drains there. Also there's an awful lot of tubing being stored right by ross bay-maybe that whole drain is being replaced. never been in any drain at ross bay but noticed a wobbly manhole that looked freshly entered one night. would've tried my self but heard someone coming and got outta there. been poking downtown most recently but seems like the season for underground will be ending soon. one wishes sometimes we could go back in time before there were so many eyes prying in on places to discover. been really close to finding that place you and a few others have been, so close-yet perhaps another season away. we shall see.

Anyone in for a stroll into the burrow this evening? Maybe even the cook street depending on time

God, I haven't been underground in ages. I'd be down for a burrow run sometime soon, too.

Wow. Can't believe I've read through the whole 190 pages of this thread. Probably the most awesome thread on UER, ever. B.S. stories and random rants apart, it felt like reading a novel. Big props and a whole lot of respect to KK, JP, A. Lien, NK, and all of the GCG crew for their findings over the years! Also a big shout-out to the explorers who came afterwards, too, your discoveries and finding were an important contribution to this thread. I wish I've discovered this thread before. Seems like Victoria is a jewel of underground wonders! So, I guess there were secret tunnels under Victoria, after all. And those T.O.S. and other satanist stories were very creepy and interesting. Any other weird shit happened lately in your lovely city? any new finds regarding tunnels? I've got a question that's been torturing me for the last 90 pages or so... Whatever happened to Tanuki?? He seemed to have abruptly stopped posting on this thread. I hope he's fine and kicking about some nice undergrounds. Cheers from Montreal!

If the weather is shitty enough,i might try for a run under Johnson Street tonight.

There are a few old drains in that area. One that was discussed here quite frequently is now gone/lined. I'll get some shots when the weather clears up.

Welcome! It took me about a month to read this thread, but it was worth it. Definitely one of the more interesting things on internet. I don't think we have anything on you guys out east, but we do have a few cool spots for such a small city. For me, the only new "finds" recently are seeing things get destroyed. They're CIP lining a lot of the old infrastructure and turning the old/abandoned buildings associated with tunnels into condos. I think some people here are still in touch with Tanuki, but I too wonder where he is. Wouldn't mind picking his brain a bit.

Anyone interested in doing some exploring tonight?
