CBSA already put your post it note in the trash I'll be taking actually not the Black Ball Line "MV Coho" but rather the Washington State Ferry "MV Chelan" from Anacotres, WA to Sidney, BC as its slight cheaper and will be closer to where I will the previous day in the state.

Great photos, and interesting stories! I've been reading this thread for quite a while now and I still can't get enough. I'm curious about the slimy growth in the drain walls... what exactly is it?? Algae of some sort? It looks very organic. I have yet to explore any drains. My rubber boots are collecting dust. And for some reason rubber boots seem to be in style now... but I won't put them to use as fashion boots. Besides, wouldn't that make your feet stink? At least now it wont look strange to wear them on dry days.

After a short hiatus due to a sex change, the bitch is back. Awww yeahhh. It makes me rather sad to watch a house go down. One day its forlorn and beautiful, the next a window pane is missing. Then the chimney is removed, exposing the sanctity of the interior. A few days later, its reduced to a pile of crap in a large dumpster. Rest In Pieces, my little white single family dwelling.
How are Garden City's finest doing? Lots of exploring/draining/infiltrating?

Oh, you know, people have been really busy with other stuff, not much exploring lately. Things are deader than ever, and I wouldn't be surprised if Steampunk does another one of these to liven things up: http://www.uer.ca/...19236&currpage=109 Things are deader than a doornail and everything everywhere is sealed up. UTGC is probably going to get locked by Av-X sometime soon. And nobody's buying beer for KK anymore.

You live in Victoria, so you're familiar with water falling from the sky in great volumes. Tis indeed the rain season, or what I like to call Season of the Rains, and as such all that stuff coming down eventually has to go out. Drains are the best way, and that generally assumes that great volumes of water will course through these drains...all by way of saying that draining during the Season of the Rains isn't smart money. In fact, it's very, very bad money. My impression of a drain at this time of year goes like this: (KK acts out his impression of a drain at the beginning of Season of the Rains, which is really quite amusing)
...so, as you can see, all that water isn't going to let all that other flotsam stop it, and you know what that means? RIGHT: rising water levels surging through confined and narrow spaces, sweeping everything in its path in a mash of terror that baffles the imagination. However, rubber boots shouldn't collect dust. I'm thinking of a spot related to the city's early water needs.

I've missed you.
Why on earth would Av-X lock the longest thread on uer? We're still on topic. ...aren't we?

I'm tempted to lock it and then have KK start a "Part II" thread. I might even go pin this one for historical information.

hahah My bad. Thanks. =) Things have been quiet on my homefront. Hopefully this rain offers a cover for my escapades so people are not able to see me. I'm not very coordinated/stealthy despite my small stature. I'm upset about the demolishment of houses in this town. One happened this past week. I've been into it a few times, once with Yoshkow. They're building some cookie-cutter beige suburban townhouse on the lot now. asdfghjkl;

Early water needs... hmmmm. So somewhere that isn't full of dangerous water surges. I know they pumped water from Spring Ridge. Other than that I can only think of water cisterns. It is a shame to have dusty rubber boots.

So, I've decided to revoke my UER membership sometime soon. Not yet, just in case i suddenly decide not to after another sleep. But I've been thinking about this for some time. I've made up my mind. To close my account permanently, of course. Why? What does this mean? It's a good question. Because UER has been a great way for me to get into UE'ing; it's helped me meet all kinds of great people, and it's provided me with a place to share my photos and stories. I would definitely recommend UER/the UTGC thread to anyone who is new to UE in Victoria and beyond. But I'm already well set in the UE community now. I have connections, knowledge, and experience. So I don't really need UER to connect with people anymore. I've never been able to get into the whole social networking thing. Facebook, Nexopia and MySpace have all evaded my interest. I've given it a try with an open and enthusiastic mind on UER. It's been good, but I've had enough. I get sucked into it, time-wise. I find it difficult to convey my thoughts and ideas clearly over the computer. It just doesn't feel right or natural. I have trouble discussing things and/or arguing with people far away who i've often never met before, or hardly ever meet. I've received some unwanted weird PM's from weird people, which just highlights the disconnect. I just don't feel comfortable using this sort of social networking to communicate, and not from a personal security viewpoint--not at all--but rather, from a social viewpoint. Also, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the side topics (aka politics etc.) that many people come to UER to talk about. People know I use UER. People associate my name, both real and Av-name, to UER. There are threads on UER that definitely make me reluctant to have my name and myself connected to UER. I'm interested in the underground, and only the underground. As for posting images, I've posted to the general public photos of almost every major storm drain in Victoria. I think that's enough for now. Instead, I have another idea that appeals to me way more. I was very inspired by KK's documentary. It was awesome. So I've decided that I'm going to make a book about the subterranean world of Victoria. Yes, a book. A beautiful book, full of big beautiful pictures. I would like to make two books. One book for the general public, an illustrated general introduction to the underground workings of the city, from both a utilitarian and an explorer viewpoint. A picture book. Actually, I could make it into a little kiddie picture book! It would sort of be like Where The Wild Things Are. It would tell the story of a little boy named Billy who falls through an open manhole left open by a careless explorer. He would then befriend the giant-sized merry sewer-rats, who would then take him on an epic tour of the underground, and introduce him to all sorts of other weird and wonderful creatures of the deep. Then he would be sent back up, only slightly late for his afternoon tea with Granma! I would draw some pictures, and then incorporate real photos of the sewers into the book to add flair. I'm serious about this!! Then I would like to make another book, not for the general public, full of detailed technical information and a lot more photographs, as a form of an archive on what is exactly under the city. Once I'm done exploring the rest of the stuff here, of course. I still have a hell of a lot to see. I have a feeling i'm barely getting started, actually. As far as explorations go, I plan on being as active as ever, working on projects with others who frequent this thread. I just won't be all cyber-connected on UER anymore. That means if you want to contact me, you'll have to do it by either meeting me in person, emailing me, phoning me, or sending me mail via carrier pigeon. For those who don't know me yet, but may want to meet me in the future, and don't have my contacts, track me down. Be a stalker. Investigative skills are a great thing to develop. Seriously. JP--I am absolutely dying to meet you. Just a friendly reminder. NinjaKlutz will always be lurking around. Remember that. The only difference is that I'm going deeper underground, both literally and figuratively. Cheers!

Um wow...ok....

NK - Thats too bad. I think UER is a great place to share ideas, not just to socialize. I do understand where you're coming from on a few points, time-consuming for one. I spend far too much time on here when I should be doing more productive things. I can also appreciate the anonymity aspect. BTW, You sound like a pompous 1337 xp10rur when you say things like this... "But I'm already well set in the UE community now. I have connections, knowledge, and experience. So I don't really need UER to connect with people anymore." Just sayin'. It'll be a shame to see you go. Oh wellz.
