My thoughts exactly.

Well, finally found (aka a homeless man kindly decided to give me his knowledge), the golden key to a large section of Victoria's opium tunnels! It's a one manhole deal, but it leads to more than one tunnel! It hasn't been burned, and it goes a very long ways! The gentleman went into lots of detail about where the manhole was; i checked the area and found that it was right next to some tougher-to get-in entrances that i was suspicious of. There are a coupla manholes in the area, so i'm not 100% sure which one is the one. I already have it narrowed to about 3, tops. So i'll be planning a little expedition soon; anyone interested please PM me. I'm sure you GCG's have been in long ago, but for a rookie like me this is exciting. I'm also finally getting somewhere in storm drain research, down to the point where i'm quite close to being able to plan some fun little trips. Also.....ran into a homeless gent who hasn't been mentioned by anybody on this site.....he's rather new on the block, been homeless for 25 years, from Quebec. He's been in every single tunnel in the city, and all in RECENT years. Most of which is not burned. Dunno if anybody here has met him, but if not, i can hook you up. He will refuse to give out info at first, and for obviously good reason (so i have no info from him yet), but if you're nice, he might tell you stuff over time. The reason why i mention this is because he supposedly has a mountain of knowledge, but soon he won't be homeless anymore. He's almost done working himself off the street (Which is wonderful), so it's probably better to talk to him sooner than later. anyways, Cheers!

Not that I disbelieve you or the homeless people, but what convinces you that you are being told anything but tall tales?

Well, the only way to know for sure is to explore! But to avoid wild goose chases, yeah, i just try to exercise common sense, and to see if people can give detailed info, and if stories match. Already been on a coupla insignificant mini goose chases, but hey, nooooo big deal.

Here's a bizarre story, one which i shall be eagerly investigating. My friend Mathias Weedhead was out around the mount Tolmie area. He was somewhat high on several substances, but DEFINITELY NOT anything hard or hallucinatory. He knows his drugs very well, and he knows that what happened was very real. He and a friend walked into a low lying wooded area, and by sheer fluke luck, saw a tunnel entrance. Just there, open, right in front of them. Like a door going into the rock/hill. They walked in. Apparently it was like the Burrow of the Beast in shape, but it was a tunnel--no trace of water. And they went along walking through there for a good half-hour before turning around and walking back because they were tired. Mathias knew i've been trying to get in the storm drains, so he asked me if i recognized this tunnel. I looked at him as if he were Dumbo. The one problem here is that my friend was walking around a LOT that day, and wasn't sure just quite where that low-lying wooded area was (and NOT bowker creek!); but he figures it was near Mount Tolmie. Now that he's not on weed, he really wants to get back in, and i'm dying of curiosity. So we will be scouring the area, searching....searching...... Damn. This is the last thing i need. There's too much stuff to investigate/explore in Victoria!!!Gaaahhhhhhhhhrgljsdfjgdijisdsefdeeeaaatttthhhhhh

for the record, it ain't me. But on another note, careful with tunnel talk and strange people-specifically, don't go in with them- under the garden city, no one can hear you scream.

Ha ha, I'd say that's an apt description of most of this thread! But can't a man just vent some frustration to like-minded individuals?

Agreed. The rain/ice/frost makes climbing a real bitch.

They're simular to other hallucinogens... it depends on your setting, how much you take, etc. It effects how you percieve things. Its like being a happy, non-sickening conscious drunken state, and being in a dream at the same time.
Oh, I'd just like to clarify- I've never done them, but a friend used to deal them out of cargo pants when we were in high school.

They've sparked up the Crofton Mill again?, at max cap apparently. If correct, are we obligated to accept the prize? Not worried, I never win these crazy contests. Oh, and Y_W, 'never tried them' Liar Liar Cargo Pants on fire

WIN!!!!!! KK owes you a sloppy kiss!! You can see the southern end of Texada island on the right middle of the pic, below Mt Benson, as the pic looks south down Malaspina straight.
