Am I Autistic? Am I Hip?
entry by IIVQ

I recently read a (fiction) book on and saw a documentary on autistic people.

The documentary was about there being a double level of autistic children near Eindhoven, the Dutch equivalent of Silicon Valley. A link was made between computer technicians and autism, as in computer technism is something autistic people are good at because they're very precise and can focus on the problem.

I also note that in my environment you're never to be ashamed of autisitcness and people allmost with pride tell about their autistic "tics" like not liking numbers divisible by 5 or triple-checking certain things every day.

What strikes me is that I recognize so much characteristics of autistic people in myself. I don't like unexpected things to happen and I can get really really upset when things don't go like they should go, sometimes I just freak out and have to shout out loud, then returning as nothing has happened, leaving my environment frightened. (Unfortunately my GF knows this but still hasn't fully learnt to cope with this).

Also, I find it very hard to make and even harder to keep contact with friends.

There's a lot more things that I can name, but what it all comes down to is that I just had to write this down for someone to know.
