What do your parents think about your body modifications? Do you have to fight with them to get something done because you are living under their roof? Or if you don't live with them what are their reactions when they see you? My parents don't mind me having piercings, except they just have a problem with facial piercings. I use to have my lip pierced but I had to take it out, but I do plan on getting it done again sometime, I asked them about the septum and they were a little sketchy about it until I told them that 99% of the piercing can be hidden.

My mom loves my septum piercing. She thinks it looks good. Her only objection to other modifications of mine has been that it will hinder me in school, work, etc... She never pulled the "it's my house thing." I started dying my hair at 11 or 12 so she got used to it early.

To quote my dad concerning my pierces: You go ahead, I'm not going to.
To quote my mom about my (previous) crayola colored dreadlocks, etc: You look so nice in a hat!

my mother was always so supportive of my older brother when he wanted piercings. She had no problem signing off on his labret and both eyebrows. Then when I was finally of-age-with-consent, It took 2 years to convince my parents to let me get a facial piercing, and the only reason they said yes for the septum was because I told them I would flip it up whenever they were around. Well whatever, I can do what i want now, bwa ha ha.

My parents rule was "No tattoo's as long as your under our roof." Sounds strict but my parents are actually cool. But then I went to some fair and got an airbrush tattoo of a maple leaf, just to show they how it would look. Finally my dad just piped up and said, "Its your body." So they finally caved and I book the appointment right away so that they didn't have time to change their minds. My mom came with me when I got mine. And she loves the ones that I have and she loves the one thats on the way. And now my mom is trying to come up with a design of her own.
But both my mom and my boyfriend think that the third one Im getting should be my last. I just tell them that it's my last for a while. But I make a point of noting that at least Im not getting tattoos for the sake of having them. Each one has significant meaning to me.

My Dad isn't much of a talker, but I think he accepts body modification with the "it's your body" mentality--as long as I don't come home with twenty facial piercings and several visible tattoos, he probably won't have a problem. My mom, on the other hand, does not understand body modification, but isn't extremely strict about it. I got my industrial after I turned 18 without telling her I was going to do it, and when I got home she just said, "That's kind of big, don't you think?" However, when I mentioned possibly getting my labret done, she gave the whole, "But your face is so pretty without all that crap in it!" argument and seemed upset.
As far as tattoos, she's one of those people who worry about whether or not you'll still like it when you're older. For example, when my friend got a pretty but rather flash-like tattoo of leaves on a whim because "everyone was doing it," my Mom basically said she was a dumbass (which she was for doing that). But when my boyfriend got his father's initials in script designed by myself and him on the back of his neck after his dad died, she liked it. I have a feeling that when I get my first tattoo, she'll initially be pissed, but will eventually accept it and might even become interested enough to come and see me get the next.

Mine are pretty supportive. My mom really likes my tattoo. My dad is a little more conservative, he didn't like the idea of me getting my tattoo and sometimes mentions that its to big. The look on my mom's face when she saw my industrial was priceless, she's pretty cool about it now. It's more of a "its your body" type of thing.

When I was living at home as a teenager, my parents told me that I could do whatever I want to my ears (piercings) but NO where else until I was out of the house.

And no tattoos.

I got 3 done while under their home, and mutilated my ears like heck... lots of piercings including a vertical industrial.

After I left home, I have a large tattoo done on my arm and my labret is pierced now

My parents let me get an orbital, which is since closed up, So now i just have a tragus, not even lobes pierced. My mom is fine with me getting my eyebrow done soon, the only problem i've had was last year i attended a really shitty Christian school. Not shitty because it was Christian, but shitty because everyone who worked there was a giant douchebag trying to convert other religions by being dicks. No body piercings there. I even went as far as to ask my principal if i could get my tragus done, seeing as ear piercings were allowed. I was told no...So i went out and got it done anyway. A week later i left.
