Infiltration

Once again, a spontaneous exploration takes place! D_Wrex and I had planned to take photographs at two locations in northeast Mpls, when we decided to scout out a certain theater that we had put off for awhile.
We walked around it once and found that the only possibility was a manhole that looked promising. It turned out to be the lightest manhole cover that either of us had ever encountered. It appeared to lead to the basement! We headed back to our cars for our cameras and whatnot before slipping inside.
The building was heated with temporary heating equipment (it wasn't obvious as to why, but there were worklights set up in two of the main rooms), so we were able to take off our jackets and roam comfortably while exploring the building. We found an old popcorn machine in the lounge area downstairs that looked like it had been sitting there rotting for 50+ years. When we entered the auditorium, we stood there, speechless. It was beautiful! The projection room still had equipment inside, even with spliced-up film lying on a table! We utilized some of the worklights to speed up our exposures while photographing the HUGE main room. We didn't want these lights to be on any longer than absolutely necessary, so we had to plan it out. There were two switches, and unfortunately they were on opposite sides of the room. It was hilarious, actually. We set up our cameras, then took turns running back and forth turning the lights on and off for the other guy to take a picture. We should have taken video of this!
No graffiti whatsoever anywhere, thank God! This was one of my favorite locations to date. I'd like to see more buildings like this in the future.
