day trip
entry by Gatsby

D_Wrex, Adam_Zelotes, Ofberenonehand and myself took a trip up north to scout out a prison and a convent - both of which were reported as vacant.
On the way, D_Wrex suddenly said "What the hell is that?". We all looked and saw some smoke stacks and industrial-type buildings. When we noticed the boarded up windows, we quickly exited the freeway and headed over there. The sun was still up, so it was a little harder to get in without being noticed. There was an old house that appeared to be at least 80 years old. We didn't try to get in, but I'd like to do it next time. I imagined what this area looked like when it was built. Desolate, but scenic. Scouting out the industrial buildings, we got on a roof and found a broken window to climb down into the place. The daylight provided beautiful illumination! EVERYTHING in this place was oddly covered with a greasy substance. We tried to get into another building on the complex and were on the roof when we saw a cop car driving slowly on the other side of the freeway - needless to say, we decided to finish exploring this location at a different time.
On the way out, a black truck passed us with a liscense plate that read "POLICE". Ofberenonehand stepped on the gas and we were on our way to the north country.

When we arrived to our original destination, we decided to scout, eat dinner, then explore all night. The convent was easy to get into, but the prison was not even located. We were delighted to find an unexpected location next to the convent. A seemingly deserted apartment complex! We determined that it was empty because of the fact that there were no lights on, and it was only 8pm. Adam and Ofberenonehand climbed two separate fire escapes while D_Wrex and I stood in the shadows, trying not to freeze to death. Adam reported that there was an unlocked door on the top floor. Good enough!

Pizza Luce provided fuel and warmth for our bodies while everyone kept making fun of me for wearing waders into a restaurant. Shut up!

Back at the apartment complex, we went in and found that the place seemed to have been deserted in a hurry, as there were belongings left all over the place from the last tenants. We found clothes in the closets, dishes and books on shelves, photographs albums with pictures still inside, phonograph players with full collections of records, etc. Eerie, actually.
Serious water damage to the upper floors. Mold growing on the floors and walls.
We found the manager's quarters - this person definitely had the best room! 1950's lounge style! The basement was really messed up. The layout made absolutely no sense at all. There were connections down there to 3 houses that were right next to the apartments. The first one was pretty much empty. The second one was wheelchair accessible with no fun features, except the strange phenomena of having a cool attic that had no entry point (we saw the house from the outside). Last but not least, the 3rd house had been occupied by a judge. There were law books scattered everywhere and we found a board meeting room with legal documents still on the table!
We found the main offices for the complex, and there was the weirdest stuff in there. Angry notes on the wall and on the floor. Someone was really happy that someone else got murdered, and you could feel their anger. It made little sense actually - I can't explain what we saw. We left shortly after that, feeling somewhat confused.
White Castle helped us return to the real world while we tried to take in what we all agreed was a kick-ass night.

The convent will have to wait, I guess.
