I heard the neck surface pierce was called a Madison because an adult performer named Madison supposedly had one. Performance piercings as in Fakir Musafar's chest pierces seen in ReSearch: Modern Primitives. http://www.fakir.org/aboutfakir/

Yes, a lot of piercings are named after people who first got it, like a christina piercing; a surface piercing on the genital area. I also heard someone refered a navel piercing as a "Britney piercing" because Britney Spears has it.

Yes that is true, but a lot of girls still refer it as a britney piercing because she has it. There is a myth and they say the navel piercing was a sign of royalty in the Egyptian culture back in the days, but there is no records or photographs of that. People only started seeing the navel piercing in the 70s and it became popular in the 90s. I think one of the first models to get it was Naomi Watts, I'm not sure.

back to the original topic: I used to have a rook pierce which didn't take kindly to being stretched to 6 guage and started growing out. The cartilage is torn (as is the cartilage at my tragus pierces [2 guage]) so I found a piercer who found a place with enough cartilage to hold a new rook pierce in the same ear. ...at 8 guage! :^) next issue...$$$

Once this damn paying-off-college-loans thing is over and done with, I'm hoping for: - labret - eyebrow - second ear piercing and probably some cartilage piercings - a few tattoos, currently working on designs Right now I just have one pair of regular earlobe piercings and an industrial, and I'm slowly working on ear guaging. Could anyone who has a labret piercing inform me of the pain involved in that? Like, compared to an ear cartilage piercing...
I <3 archaic industry. |
|
I've never had a labret, but I've had plenty of lip piercings including one just abive the labret. The farther away from your lip you get the less it hurts. It will sting some, but is not a big deal. A little more than a cartiledge piercing at first, but probably less ongoing pain.

I've got quite a list of tattoos I still want to get, but currently the two frontrunners are a sleeve on my left arm inspired by the video game American McGee's Alice, and a sleeve on my right arm designed by Andrew Bell of www.creaturesinmyhead.com

I've got my labret pierced, and honestly it doesn't hurt at all. my friends were with me and they said i just sat there like nothing was happening, even when they put the needle in. the only thing about it was that my lip got really swollen, hurts more after than actually getting the needle put in.

I used to have my lip pierced, I'm getting it redone soon. I also want both my nostrils pierced with small studs. I need to have my back tattoo finished... the tattoo artist I went to was an alcoholic ass (which I didn't figure out until he started the tattoo) so I asked him to finish the outline then got the hell out of there. Haven't gotten the money to finish it up yet with a proper tattoo artist. I want to get a moth tattoo on my wrist, my sister is getting the same one. Oh, and I want some art nouveau swirls over my hips but I'm still deciding about that in case I want to have kids at some point... but I'd really rather adopt so we'll see what happens.

I want to get my scenery done on my upper right arm. My sister-in-law's best friend is a new tattoo artist, and doing it for free with me... Turning out great so far... but have no time to finish the rest of the work

Mods I Want: - more tattoos; some on legs, maybe some on back (don't know of designs yet) - get my industrial re-done (I had to take it out for work and it closed up) - get tragus done - get some more lobe piercings (I had to take 3 out) Mods I have right now: Piercings: - 2 fourteen gauge center tongue piercings - 2 sixteen gauge daith piercings - 1 nostril piercing - 2 thirteen gauge lower lobe piercings - both nipples pierced at 14 gauge - 1 navel piercing - 1 VCT piercing at 13 gauge - 2 labia piercings at 14 gauge Tattoos: - 1 skull & crossbones wearing a pink bow on right shoulder - 1 skull with red star behind it on left shoulder - tribute tattoo to a pet with paw prints between shoulders - dragonfly with a french quote on my lower back - heart with banner wrapped around it and my husband's name on my lower left calf Retired Mods: - 2 nostril piercings (I had it done twice before) - 1 thirteen gauge industrial - 3 fourteen gauge lower lobe piercings - 1 thirteen gauge frownie piercing (lower mouth web)
|
|
To add to my previous post: As I said, I used to have my frownie pierced (the web between your gums and your inner lip inside your lower part of your mouth) and the reason why I had to take it out was because it started to leave an indentation in my gums and the dentist I went to said that it would start causing gum damage eventually. He also said that labrets and smileys have the same consequences (which isn't that hard to believe). Just thought I'd let you all in on that, you know, so that maybe you won't want your gums to get nasty someday.
