Relatively Large Drain in Littleton

Recently we were riding our bikes along a river in search of any good drains we could potentially explore, and before long we stumbled upon an outfall that looked pretty promising. We decided to take a closer look to make sure it wasn't just a short culvert. Upon looking inside, we couldn't see an end, so we got our gear ready and entered the drain.

We walked for about a quarter mile before the slope of the drain leveled out a bit; near the outfall it was pretty steep. As we continued further into the drain we spotted a lot of really unique graffiti.

The drain was likely an underground river due to the floor being entirely covered by algae, which caused us to nearly wipe out several times. Nevertheless, we continued deeper into the drain, we went through a bend, after which we could see light. The source of the light was a very long way away, as we walked for about 20 minutes and we were still nowhere near it. We did however come across an interesting looking pipe, which looked like it may have been made of bricks at some point.

We never ended up making it to the end, due to the fact that we were getting tired and the source of the light was still nowhere close. I plan on coming back here in the future to see where the drain ends, and if there are any significant branches worth exploring.

That just about concludes what I have to say here, but I'd like to work on improving my write-ups, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate any feedback. Also, dumb question but how to I resize images so that you don't need to click them to view them?

I and many others use the website Flickr to post photos and post the BBcode into the UER post box. When you post on Flickr, go to share and click BBcode, and then copy and paste that link into the box and click preview to see how the sizing and stuff looks. If it's too big or small, you can simply change the picture size back on Flickr and repaste the link into the draft, and I usually preview after every photo pasted to make sure it looks alright. This way, you could make these photos not even fit on half of our screens, but that usually ends up hurting the viewing experience if they are too large, so I try to make something that fits easily within the post. Hope this helps!!

Now relating to your post. This amps me up because I think I know where an underground river is in my city but never got the chance to go in it yet. I know of possible winding routes to get there according to a map via other storm drains, but the creek that disappears under a street contains a mystery to where it goes. That means if I go that way I'd need to wade in waist deep water, but like yours it seems to go on for miles and miles beneath the city. I also know of a pretty interesting one too I have to get in sometime. I know of a subterranean detention basic located entirely beneath a parking lot. And of course, this parking lot is that of a huge police station. Not that it's likely to be caught underground, but it makes it pretty interesting that there's possibly a massive underground room right under my nose since I drive past that place almost every day. Will post if I make it down there. Thanks for sharing.

You should totally make a post if you make it down there, I always love hearing the stories others have to tell about their draining adventures! Every drain is very unique and that is part of the reason I never get bored of it, despite the fact that I've been doing it for around 3 and a half years. And yeah, underground rivers will never disappoint! They always offer something that makes them totally worth the trip.

As for the drain I posted earlier I'm certainly going back there to reach the end, and I'll make another post about it here if I find anything interesting.

Again thanks for the feedback on how to properly size images, that was a huge help!
