I heard from a teacher that there are WW2 tunnels underneath the school, stretching until Michael Garron hospital (aka East General). The school underwent renovations in 1988 and the school was practically entirely rebuilt and, to my understanding, the old school used to be where East York Alternative is now. I also know that the new EYCI has a basement that is only opened up once a year. Does anyone know any more information? Side note, does anyone know why there’s a photo of Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks in the trophy case. It has been there for years and nobody knows why.

Do you still go to school there/would the caretakers remember you? If so, I would go to them with all these questions. When I did so at my hs, they were happy to show me the tunnels and answer loads of questions... Thanks for mentioning it, though, you got me interested in this part of the city!

I went to EYCI... I don't recall any tunnels to East General/M Garron Hosp. However there has always been a major storm drain that runs from the old sewage treatment plant in the Don Valley near Don Mills Rd. There is a part of that tunnel system that's big enough to paddle a canoe. It began being modified for increased capacity probably 10 yrs ago and it's still going from last I knew. It has access due to ongoing construction at Barbara Cres and Coxwell. It has to head almost due south to meet up with the treatment plant at Ashbridges. It would have to pass EYCI and E Gen'l Hosp Read more here: https://www.toront...aterfront-project/
ue.. it ain't what it usta be... |
