2023 year in review

I had a really good year. I did some hospitals in particular I am very proud of and though I didn't do as many churches and theaters as I meant to, I still managed to do some very nice ones. But I am not going to show you any of that. Instead, I am going to show you a selection of absolutely ratchet industrial sites and super beat down pych centers and stuff. Because I think that stuff is fun and you probably *secretly* think so too.

1. I went on a little road trip with some good friends just as the days started getting longer and it was just a really good mix of nice locations and not so nice, but generally still cool ones

2. This little mill was a favorite of mine. Something about the way it was boarded up caused all this weird perspectival stuff to happen to the light coming in from the streets at night

3. Got a grand tour of the old brass foundry from the expert one day in March

4. Following me into a thorn bush is like chasing a golden retrieve into a pond

5. This building was actively undergoing demolition while I was inside. It was an old building, so seeing all the modern interiors striped out was pretty cool

6. This school, by the time of my visit had become a very popular spot to break things and spraypaint

7. A mine

8. A cement plant that was extremely overgrown

9. Had a good run on some industrial stuff later when the days were much longer

10. Probably my favorite trip of the year was to this very broken in hospital. It is an old favorite of mine. I suffered a quite serious ankle sprain on the way in, spent the night in a hammock and then proceeded to take photos for the next seven hours. This put me out for about a month

11. This was a nice if rather blown up spot

12. I am posting this spot instead of Nevele. Hope that helps you on your journey

13. Sometimes you get in extra big trouble at the worst looking spots. Just because.

14. This is the water people in Boston don't drink

15. Finishing up with some awesome fall hydro adventures

Thanks for looking and hope next year is good to all of you

....

...

The theatre in the 3rd photo looks spectacular and those spectral light perspectives were pretty night in the night location. I would love to explore spot #4. Just that one photo makes the place look so interesting. One of my favorite shots of the entire set is the 'D Dorm' one. I dig that style of foreground/background perspective in my own work too.

I am trying to do more stuff like that, but it doesn't always work out the way I want. So glad you liked it!

I recognize a couple of these places. You hit the industrial lotto. I am a sucker for hydros. You never know what you may find looking for them.
