Have always wondered about these places in ontario. Seems like so many of them are just "Okay, we are gone now adios see ya" and leave so much behind.

Homeless coming in after the fact and squatting until getting kicked out or taking off suddenly?

Remember one with a old tube tv in it (50's or so) and it looked like a time capsule in other ways.

Is it that bad in the rural areas of ontario that just randomly abandoning a place and going to the big city is better?

I'm in rural Ontario, generally it's because it's elderly people, whom for whatever reason have no family that want or can collect their items. Just places at the end of their time. Lately a lot of people have been moving north so I see less and less of it these days. More so just forgotten cottages on old lakes no one visits anymore.

this photo set is really fantastic, but seeing the title "No Frills" and seeing the location was in Canada, i thought this would be an empty No Frills store lol

And of course, I can't unsee the proper perspective because of standing there and taking the photo. Funny how the brain works that way!

Thanks!... I tried a bit harder with this spot because St. Catharines has pitifully little in the way of accessible abandoned places. Gotta savor the ones that come up like a fine wine!

At least it was old Xmas stuff and not like the last old trunk I found--that one had nothing in it but an old bed pan.

I always thought it would be the other way around and people would be running to the hills. I think the level of abandonments in rural settings and urban settings is fairly even. The urban ones just don't last long, while the rural ones sometimes sit untouched for decades.

That's crazy sad. And makes me want to do a little of my own squatting!

Haha! That gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the visit from NS. I dread the thought that your message was two weeks ago. I hope you are doing ok out there with the fires.
