First Time urban exploring

Recently whenever i am home from work I have been very bored so I've started looking into stuff I could do for fun. Urban exploring is something I keep coming back to. A little bit ago me and my friend explored an abandoned slaughterhouse. I didn't take any pictures but im thinking about going back to take pictures I can post here. Im definitely no photographer so im looking for tips on that as well as tips on what I should bring when I go urban exploring. Should I go buy a cheap camera to start or just take pictures on my phone?

I'm not expert but I'll offer this:
1. Have fun
2. Be safe
3. Take the best photos you can, but some people take AMAZING photos with their phones.
3a. Composition is important!! Frame the shot nicely.
3b. Not too light, not too dark, get your exposure right (this is easy with a decent phone)
3c. Edit your photos if necessary, but don't try to do too much too quickly.
4. Have fun! Urbex is a great hobby.

Most new phones and a lot of older ones will have a better camera than a dedicated cheap camera. Just make sure you can see whats in frame and try to step back to get wide views of things or use the panorama feature if you have one to get things that you couldn't cover normally. Slaughter houses are always cool, excited to see what you have to share!

Just use your phone camera, I use a iphone 6 and my shots are fine (just dont look at my dawsonville pics those are awful), always bring a flashlight and good shoes, anything else depends on the location.

I am not, do not claim to be, or even try to be a photographer. I just shoot with my cell phone and have fun. The only thing I do is use natural light to my advantage when possible, and try and square my shots up as best I can. Sometimes I'll apply a B&W filter to pics that it seems to suit. Regardless of my minimal efforts, sharing even flawed pics is fun for all and pleases the UE Gods. While there are photag specific threads here, don't forget this is an explorers forum! Some folk here have incredible photographic skill and talent and I appreciate them greatly, but it certainly isn't required. Hell - I explored for literal decades without even snapping a single picture, and still the best spots I've been and snapped I don't even share. Shoot like maniac, have fun, and be safe.....
