This is by far at the top of the list for coolest places I have ever explored. Made around 7 trips here this year, and these are some of my favorite pictures! Entry to the depths
Tried to bring this old mining engine to life with a few lights!
This was one of the hardest rooms to light even with long exposure!
One of my favorite timbering sections!
Still waiting on Akron to fire this bad boy up one day hahahah
A look at the controls
The TNT bunker!
An alien growth! I am actually super curious if anyone has any clue what this is, I assumed some weird mineral growth but its pretty strange looking!
Seeing these old blueprints was one of the coolest parts!
Time to wash up
Bad Air
Random attempt at laser light painting came out meh
At the top of the underground
This mud still lingers on my boots
For anyone that knows this location I hope this picture is fun to see. This room is deep underground with no light and we spent quite a while running around with a few flashlights to light it up this much!
Reverse of the prior
I still have troubles grasping the absolute enormity of this area. The scale is so large I see new things every single trip.
The Ice room! one of these was 6 FT tall!
more ice
Water in here seems to no longer be green
An amazing underground forge/ workshop
Ascending
A crossroad!
Found this super cool, whatever metal they were melting down is still in this crucible tool!

This is beyond cool. I don't think you can really find stuff like this over here on the east coast where I live, and I'm very jealous about it.

I still want to explore out that way more! I am not sure how the mines are there, I have heard maybe the ground is not so good, but I think you have some crazy underground with drains, subways and factories!
|

These are all spectacular! What an adventure too, so much to explore. Photo four is really nice, awesome engine in photo five as-well.

Every single photo here is cool as hell, wish we had stuff like this on the east coast. Awesome work bringing out all the colors in everything.

What an incredible place. They had an entire heavy machine shop down there!? This mine must have been a hell of an operation when it was active. When was it abandoned, and how long was it active for?
I come and go like a comet; we are wanderers. Reports of our eradication have been somewhat exaggerated. |

I agree, the way things are preserved makes me think this place may be one of only a few places like this that still exist. They had many machine shops. this was one of the ones on a lower floor. I think the upper floors they also made their own shovels and pickaxes. (lots of handles and tool heads are still there). If there is some interest I can post more images. It sounds like it was abandoned in the 80's and we have found historical images from the early 1800's there are some pictures of people at the site before any structures existed and it was a tent settlement.

Ho - lee - shitballs. This is insane, and I've seen some mines!!! CO? More pictures please!!!!! BTW, the weird growth in that one picture looks to me kinda like a blob of creosote maybe getting fed on by bacteria/mold.
When there is tranquility, you are in the right place. When there are no footprints, you are on the right path. When there are no tire tracks, you are on the right road. |

I'll post some more, they had some fun honeypot cars in the top workshops too lol. yeah CO. How are the mines/ urbex out in Portland area? I travel a lot for work and may yet get a few trips out that way this summer. I have yet to be able to see much in that area but it seemed like there would be a lot of industrial stuff
|

Epic man. Just epic. I am filled with jealousy and lack of words. I'll just say thank you!

Really cool pictures! If it's the mine I think it is, I'm even more jealous! A couple friends and I traveled to CO 6 years ago to explore this mine and every entrance we found were welded shut. It was a perilous hike down to the bottom of the valley, but at least there were cool buildings to visit.
Vade in cloacas. |

WOW! Reminds me of a theme park ride, but far more spooky and real. The ice is also really alien, I wonder what makes it form like that. Really neat shots all around!

There's some stuff. Not much in the way of underground apart from a a couple big drains. Out east and down south in Oregon there's some mining districts, with really old workings and lots of water. There's a few good ones in the John Day area. We have quite a few caves, both lava tubes and limestone. If you want to explore around Portland, you'd better like paper and lumber mills. I tend to go down to Nevada and California for all my mine excursions!

It's a shame to hear you were unable to get in! In prior months a lower door had been blown completely off and we even encountered glowsticks from what I assume was another explorer. Now they have a super legitimate Iron gate that can't be opened. Always ways around. DM if you're ever in town! I love meeting more explorers!

I hate to point out the obvious, but those are quite clearly ghosts, not ice. Someone call the Discovery Channel!

I live near coal country, so there are mines, they're just super old. I would not recommend exploring those if you manage to find one, and I think all of the more modern mines are strip mines rather than mineshafts.

These are some of the coolest pictures I've ever seen on the site.. And I get the heebie jeebies just looking at them and thinking about being underground. Absolutely love the light/laser painting shots!

You would think but it was oddly peaceful. Last trip I visited with two others and we had lunch in the middle of the darkness. We switched our lights off and not being able to see a single thing anywhere was pretty cool. Sitting in absolute darkness and just listening to the sounds and smells and taking the whole environment in is such a hard thing to describe . This history is also part of why I love it. This place does have a very very different feel than any caves I've explored. I miss it, will have to make a snowshoe trek back lol.

How Cool! How Colorful! How Strange! I want to Go~ Insanely good shots!
A place of Mystery is Always worth a curiosity trip! |
