In November, I decided to go on a car hunting marathon in Peterborough County. I left home base just outside of Bradford and travelled as far east as Pethericks Corners (Roughly 200k).
Location 1: Outside of Peterborough
1. A random ugly mid-sized Ford from the early 80's and a '68-'73 (Gen 3) Oldsmobile Cutlass
2. '71-'73 Mercury Cougar (Gen 2)
Location 2: This is an active business with a few older vehicles that may be works in progress or display pieces. I found a few photos on Flickr from this location and wanted to see what else they had.
3. Honda ATCs. If you were a kid growing up in the late 80's you probably wanted one. However, they were banned in 1988 because of the high number of deaths, especially amongst younger riders.
4. '48-'50 Ford F135 1.5 Ton
Location 3: In the middle of nowhereville, buried in a forest of evergreen trees. I've slowly noticed a common theme amongst these types of finds......The Good Stuff is Always in the Back.
5. '64 Pontiac Parisienne
6. '68 Mercury M100
7. '73 Dodge Dart
8. '64-'66 Ford Mustang 289. This isn't about the photo so much as the vehicle itself. It's the first generation mustang with a V8 and a 4 speed manual trans. Kind of a big deal amongst muscle car people. I'm not a muscle/pony car guy but I have always loved Mustangs and not just the old ones.
9. '71-'72 Ford Torino 500
10. 1960 Chevy Corvair Monza Coupe. WOW! This is a super cool car and I have never seen one in person before, both restored or in the wild. I was super stoked to find this guy
11. '49-'52 Dodge Coronet dancing with the Corvair
12. '60-'64 Chevy Corvair Sedan. Pretty cool...My first ever Corvair sedan. Wasn't expecting that.
13. '59 Oldsmobile Super 88
14. '53 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe Sedan
15. Another gen 1 Corvair Sedan
16. I like this one but there's a mild HDR touch that my phone added automatically. I've since turned it off but I didn't know it was a feature at the time... Late 60's Dodge Coupe?
I took shots of at least half a dozen other cars but they didn't turn out due to a combination of the lighting and the tree growth. If someone stumbled upon this place 15 years ago, it would have been mint.
Location 4: Campbellford active business. I spoke with one of the owners and he was cool with me taking some pics. Not abandoned but decaying for sure.
17. Super cool Ford Model A. My second ever
18. '66-'69 Chevy Corvair (Gen 2). Unbelievable!!! 4 Corvairs in one day.
Location 5: This was just a pure freestyling/drive-by find.
19.
I saw these 3 ladies and had to stop. I learned how to drive manual on a '69 so they have a place in my heart. Little did I know I was about to meet a guy with a PHD in German Coleoptera. We discussed the cars, auto mechanics and how we both spent time in Toronto but enjoyed the roots of our rural upbringing. I brought up the fact that I was out "exploring" today and it turned out that he held a Masters degree in Urban Exploration. He gave me a few pointers and sent me on my way.
Final location: Somewhere in Whoville
20. '62 Chevy C50
21. '58 Ford F600
22. '65-'67 Dodge D300 V8 with 4spd.
I have two more to add from this location but the image posting site is being lame so I will add later on.
This was by far my most successful and enjoyable day of car hunting. Thanks for looking! p.s. Sorry for the wide ass pics as I was still learning the ins and outs of the phone.

A good friend of mine had a sweet old Corvair that he cleaned up and restored himself. Kind of a crappy car but it sure felt cool. This is quite a collection, cool shots!
When there is tranquility, you are in the right place. When there are no footprints, you are on the right path. When there are no tire tracks, you are on the right road. | |
Okay, so I'll admit I'm partial to #19, but these are some very cool shots. I'm kinda half considering a Corvair for a future project car. They tick a few boxes for me.

You must have a hidden warehouse to store all your projects. I'm slowly cleaning out my single car garage to fit a project truck. However, I'm having a hard time letting go of the 2 stroke cylinders, heads and cases from sleds I don't have anymore. It's a sickness

Last pic from the last location. Another one that I've never seen before but would love to own: '60-'65 International Harvester Scout 80

Some very cool finds. Awesome collection of Corvairs. My first car was a 63 4 door Corvair Sedan. Absolutely hated it, not much cool factor in High School, but would love to have it now!

You would have been super cool with the coupe in red. My first car was a babyish blue '87 Chevy Celebrity. Comfortable seats were the only thing it had going for it. I was super jealous of my friend's '90 Eagle Talon TSI. It was fast!!! However, the turbo decided to go on permanent vacation about 8 months after he bought it. Thanks for the comment.
