Recently I was driving from Los Angeles back up to San Francisco, and stopped off in the unincorporated area of Mettler to check out the abandoned Mettler School. Situated just off the 99, the area has less than 150 residents, most of which live on the two residential streets just behind the school. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find too much information on the history of the school.
I was there on a cold and drizzling morning around 8am, and although I didn't see anyone most of the houses had dogs chained up in their yards, who would bark at the slightest noise.
There's not too much to check out once inside, but it was still pretty cool to explore, and to take a handful of photos. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the area.
