SMU Tunnels Update

I've typically lurked on here because I find the exploration done by all of you significantly relevant to my focus on urban development and human industrialization. At SMU we have a few pretty cool spots, notably our steam tunnels run throughout a huge portion of the campus and date back into the early 1900's...an old Dallas post of the tunnels documented the older sections of the system. Here is what I consider the most updated glimpse of the system currently since this is on a somewhat more modernized section. The system is extremely difficult to access now....however if anyone is familiar with the Dallas Hall apartment, the views from the balcony are amazing but that's a bit easier to access. From my experience the UT Dallas tunnels are extremely more difficult to access, almost impossible at this time....there are extreme measures to keep students out such as motion sensors, infrared cameras, roving police patrols, and the tunnels have been retrofitted with gates every few hundred feet to isolate sections hindering exploration. To my knowledge, the last true exploration of the UT Dallas tunnels was in 2011.

Almost you say? So possible, but difficult. Did you take the picture? It's blurry and mysterious and makes me curious. I've always wanted to get up in a utility tunnel of some kind, and 10 years locked up is way too long.

This is a pic I took of the SMU tunnels before I enrolled, newer sections where a lot of construction had been done were easy to gain access to and connect with the old tunnels but since completion there hasn't been a lot of talk of students exploring since added security features have been put in place.

UT Dallas on the other hand is extremely well surveilled and while getting in may be easy it will most likely be a short trip as the sensors will alert the campus PD. Here is a map my friend made for an old reddit thread with a rough depiction of the tunnels.

When I worked at Collin College's Spring Creek Campus I was surprised to find they have tunnels of their own! They run all underground the campus, you can get from one end to the other and there are little ways in all over!

I was surprised to find the tunnels too randomly when I was a student there, it was way easier to traverse those without seeing anyone! Same architect that built collin creek mall built the spring creek campus....I wonder if collin creek had tunnels of its own.
