~10 degree snowy Christmas at the Coal Camp

Spent Christmas with my wife's family in Boone County, not too far from where we live, about 70 mins over yonder. The snow had let up and temps dropped to about 10-12 degrees. After the kids opened their presents and I ate some food, I decided to head up to the old coal camp to shoot some guns and explore a couple of buildings. My wife's grandfather was from this coal camp along with the rest of that side. This camp still had plenty of homes and the mine was active until about 10 years ago. Now there is one resident left.

Much of this camp has been demolished, scrapped, and burned down over the last few years but a little bit remains. Unfortunately, my wife's family's home here burned down a couple of years ago due to an electrical fire. It was so upsetting to the family that they pitched lawn chairs and watched their family home burn to the ground.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a happy new year to all of you. Be safe and be well.
