Well, when I say new, I've been interested in urban exploring forever, and I've explored a fair few abandoned locations. But, looking at this website, it looks like there are a ton of people more serious that I am lol. Anyways, here's my questions: 1. Does this community look down on those who choose not to trespass, hop fences, avoid guards, or pick locks to get into places? I really don't want to do anything illegal (though I have explored places that COULD have been illegal to go to, but I didn't really know, and there was nobody that told me not to go there) or get into trouble. I have intentionally not explored several places that are REALLY cool because I don't want to risk it. 2. I'm not sure that what I enjoy finding is really urban exploring. I like finding places that have been left to nature, like the Brio Superfund site (under America, then Texas, then Friendswood in the DB map) and an old oil drum that sank into a swamp, which I've posted below, stuff like that. However, that might not be considered urban exploring because there's nothing "urban" about it. Is what I'm doing really urban exploring, or is there something else that I've been doing? 3. Is there any way to post finds besides being a Full Member? I really like exploring solo, so I wouldn't want to explore with other people, making one of the requirements for becoming a Full Member not gonna happen. Thanks for the help guys, I really look forward to reading yall's responses! 1.

Hey mate! Awesome set. Like you said, there was nobody that told you not to go there. Don't get caught, but it might happen to you sooner or later anyway. Be careful and if you get caught then explain exactly what you are doing there like what you just shared. Above all, avoid getting caught with hooking tools and do not vandalism. Lastly, have fun. You don't have to be Full Member to post.

First off, welcome to UER! Love these pics...looks like a cool site. 🙂 Your questions: 1- No...everybody does it differently, and works with their own comfort level. We all gotta start somewhere, and looking at this set makes me think you'll do just fine. 2- If you want to get technical, the type of exploring you do might be considered more 'rurex' (rural exploring), but it comes down to the same thing. It's a pretty eclectic group here...crane climbers, drainers, miners, active infiltrators, urbex and rurex. You've come to the right place. 3- As a basic member, you can post pics, videos in the forums, and comment in the database; though you can't create a new location or add pics to an existing one until you're FM. If you haven't already, browse the many tutorials and FAQ's threads. As I said before, you'll be fine; it's a good group here. Good luck, have fun, be safe, and looking forward to seeing more from you!

welcome Honestly, don't be scared and use your jusdgement. You will need to go very far before being in trouble. Just alsways say the truth and 99% of time you will be realeased (if you get caught) Urban Exploration encapsulate severals shperes like cfour explained, no one will look down on you even if you explore an empty barn. The worst thing that can happen is that it will not interest some people. If someone is disrespectfull or condescending towards you well just ignore them and continue tu have fun.

Welcome and great shots. I agree, use your judgement about shooting in places without permission. In more urban areas, since March law enforcement is driving around areas a lot more. In addition, and maybe even more of an issue, since March more and more people are spending time outdoors which means more eyes are watching. Be careful out there and keep in mind, you look like less of a threat to someone wearing "regular" clothes than if you are dressed for a black ops mission. Happy Exploring!
