A large plot of land in Ecorse, Mi where a steel plant used to be, they managed to demolish the bulk of the factory but left behind a few things.1.

Wow...

I used to drive past the big old compound occasionally, and marvel at the big, grimy men that worked there. Well, that sounds kind of creepy.. What I mean is, it was curious, especially on some 'hot' (low 90s!) day to drive past & see the occasional glow of molten metal, etc. & wonder about who'd be willing to work in such conditions. I also wondered about the bar, right across the street, that many seemed to flock to for their lunch break -- I don't think their jukebox had Prince or Madonna...

So the buildings are mostly demolished, but I wonder if they actually did remediate the soil, or if it's going to be a HAZMAT site that's going to sit percolating for 30 years until some entity dumps millions into cleaning it...
