Am new

Hello, I've just recently found out about this urban exploration forum and am excited to be a part of it! I live on long island and love to explore abandoned buildings and ruins even though there aren't all that many here on the island. The places I have been to include:
Lawrence Aviation
Kings Park
Garden City Catholic School
Shoreham Nuclear Reactor
Welwyn Preserve
Greenport Oyster Factory

I tried to upload pics I took of the places but the website says they're all too large.

I'd love to know if there are any other places to explore on the island.

Wow, I am really quite surprised that nobody has jumped down your throat for all of those names being dropped. Must be shit.

They're all very lame and well known spots, with the exception of one which isn't lame but certainly isn't any sort of real accomplishment in 2020.

Lol. I GO TO ALL THE SPOTS.

I mean. You can shout as loud as you can here about locations. And it won't have near the impact of a whisper on Instagram.

it's good to see, even now in 2020, the Northeastern sub-forum keeping up its reputation. Keep up the good work!

I wasn't tryna show anyone up. I'm trying to show where I place in this community, that being not very high up at all. Most of the places I listed are from research I have done on my own; Scouring for locations people have dropped on social media, youtube, reddit, etc. Unfortunately, just through the broad internet, the lesser-known locations are very hard to near impossible to come across, that's why I am excited to be joining a forum such as this one where such lesser-known locations are common knowledge. I'd love to hear some top picks from you yourself. I know most of the places I've been to are crummy and full of people smashing things and vandalizing, that's why I need help from someone like you who knows miles more than I do.

Just to clarify here, you're not catching flack for the quality of the location you've named dropped, you're catching flak for name dropping at all. Posting real location names, addresses, or coordinates (outside the UER DB once you're a full member) is highly frowned upon here because increased publicity raises the risk of vandals and scrappers messing them up further. Don't take it too hard, every rookie messes up. Just post some pictures from your exploring, don't name drop again, and it'll all blow over by this time next week.

I was actually trying to be nice and point out that none of the spots mentioned were secret so OP didn't really goof all that bad.

How did you get into the power plant? Did you have to break in? Were there guards, or is it open as a filming loaction?

You must locate the hidden manhole that reveals itself once the hand of the clock strikes the twelfth hour of noon, and wait patiently until the sun illuminates the hidden keyhole laying on the top face of the manhole.

How do you get the key you might ask? Wait until the clock’s longer hand cranks four times forward and a shy hummingbird will swoop down from the tree and knock the key from a branch, having the key now be in your reach.

Now, once you are in the hidden tunnel, you must be attentive to the laser tripwire, and carefully maneuver until the metal door at the end of the hall.

At the end of the hall lays a guard booth with a guard with a face as pale as a ghost. Do not bring attention upon yourself, and he shall not notice you.

From there, it is easy, slowly open the door and follow the ladder up into the power plant, just watch for the guard dog at the main entrance.

Erm I've been trying to get into that place for round 2 for quite some time now but security is very tight. High-security fence, Cameras, Patrol car. Unless you want to do a lot of breaking and entering, I would not try going for it.
