Hi! I've only started Urban Exploring since quarantine started and I've been looking for some new spots, I know of a famous urbex tiktoker that explores very local to me but refuses to give me her spots (but that's a different story for another time). First, I am a minor, almost 16 years old. My dad allows me and is supportive of my interest in urbex, even if it requires illegally trespassing. My question is how much trouble can someone of my age get for trespassing on these properties? I'm pretty sure I cannot get arrested but I hope to work in the criminal justice system in the future so I didn't know if anyone would think it could possibly affect my potential future job if I was caught. My main spot is a local abandoned psychiatric hospital campus that's usually under surveillance but I've found ways around it, it's on state property and for certain buildings I need to jump a fence if that info helps. Most of the time they’ll tell you to fuck off or try and call someone in. Either way the experiences I’ve had with cops as a minor were just getting told to never come back again, etc etc. At an extreme, they’ll take have you do community service or some shit to do with Juvenile Detention, but I wouldn’t know too much about that since the laws vary state to state.
Also tip: If you were planning on posting videos on TikTok as you referenced in your post, don’t if you don’t want to see a spot to get blown.

Although it might be common for minors to get away with 'a slap on the wrist' don't expect that to happen every single time. It is without a doubt possible for minors to be prosecuted, minors closer to the age of 18 can also be charged as adults sometimes. Be careful.
A heads up about social media, specifically TikTok, on this forum: TikTok can be seen as the platform where people blast information about where they are to the entire world. I've found many locations because people post willy-nilly on TikTok. Because of this there is a high chance people will not trust you if thats what your intent is. Explore for the fun of it, not for popularity or social gain.

Why, what possible way could the Chinese government abuse all the data they're collecting on Tiktokers?
I actually have to say, good on her for not sharing location information. No offence to you, but she's just demonstrating good information discipline, which has been a dying rule ever since social media took over.

Not a ton of trouble under 18, unless you murder someone or start a fire. You should know what law enforcement's like in your area better than anyone else. Depending on the town you might get told to fuck off, hauled back to your parents in shame, or some (20-80h) community service at worst. For what it's worth I had to do community service as a kid (janitor at the school) and it sucked, but the custodians were cool and I gained appreciation for all the hard work they do.
Re: your tiktok acquaintance, why don't you try striking up a natural friendship and sharing your drugs in real life before asking for locations. Having good weed and acid can really help you get ahead in life

"Famous urbex tiktoker" lol, the tiktok kids are just the GenZ equivalent of Instagram urbexers and there's not a whole lot of community overlap between us and them. The who's who list on tiktok and on here are almost certainly mutually exclusive. Also, begging for location handouts right out the gate is pretty much one of the cardinal rookie sins of urbex.
But if you're a minor you probably won't get hit too hard even if you get caught, so long as you're not breaking stuff and aren't caught with spraypaint, drugs, or stolen items. Trespassing teenagers is likely to not even be worth writing a ticket for to all but the most bored cops, and if they do your average judge isn't gonna hit you with anything that'll follow you past the age of 18. Plus you can get away with a lot using the "scared teenager who didn't realize what they were doing was wrong" act if you're just being where you shouldn't be, within reason.

My little brother got caught on the roof of his high school, He was put on probation for 2 years, had to do a ton of community service and attend some class. He was 16 at the time. It all depends on your local laws thought.
