Recently took a day with Sebk to check out some Detroit classics. I'm sure many of you will recognize these former industrial/office sites. We hit the south end of Packard to start, but I'll spare you all any photos of that. Checking out the part of the plant that was occupied by Chemical Processing was interesting though, as there was some stuff left behind - including a whole lot of (presumably) Processed Chemicals in 55 gallon drums! Next stop was near the airport, with a nice view of downtown and the Fisher Bldg from the roof:
This massive, 100 year old original (I think) Ingersoll Rand compressor (presumably powering stamping equipment at this stamping plant) was the highlight for me:
Last stop was on the Westside. Tough to get the scale of the gargantuan metal water cistern that we found about halfway up the tower in the front. Sebk vows to get to the top of the tower on a future trip...:
Love that some of the marble, wrought iron, and wood elements of the staircases and banisters are still left in the front lobby. Also can still see some of the once-ornate plaster ceiling:

Great set! That tower is really just begging to be climbed.... hope you and Sebk go back and get a pic of the view from up there!

Thank you brokenbits. I agree on the tower, however courage and comfortableness with heights also factor into the equation unfortunately lol! For some reason the first couple 20 foot sections of ladder weren't so intimidating, but the 30 foot section going up the side of the metal water cistern just looked particularly... daunting...

Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing. Doesn't look like we (Canadians) will make it to the D this year.

Thanks Dave! That's a shame - have you done much exploring in Detroit before?

Awesome pictures! Being from Windsor I've always been curious about the Packard Plant. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you want to post those pictures?

Probably because there are millions of photos of Packard out there already

Thanks Sam! the comment right below us answers your question perfectly haha. Because there is sooooo much Packard out there already, I honestly didn't want to take the time to upload the photos lol. If you'd like to check out some Packard photos I've taken, a post in our region from a few months ago of mine called "East Grand Blvd find!! (just kidding)" has Packard photos. I was also being sarcastic in that title because obviously I did not find Packard; in fact it is one of the most famous urbex spots in the country. And just to be clear, I'm sure there are many more posts with better Packard photos than the one of mine I just mentioned! Thanks again!
