The Admin Building at Phelpsville Brass Mill

There's been a copper and brass mill at this spot since the founding of this city in the 1840s. Since then it's gone by a lot of different names (and this isn't one of them) before finally ceasing operations completely in 2007 or 2008. Today, it's a sprawling industrial complex which was home to at least two other factories and now is mostly abandoned.

Saladking and I visited with the intention of surveying the whole complex, but after briefly seeing a few of the other buildings, construction workers and security kept us from going any further than this administration and office building.
The stuff left behind in this place showed a lot about the company and the people who worked there.

01: Lobby
Beyond here, there wasn't much graffiti in the rest of the building.

02: Grand Stairway
I bet the railing used to have a brass strip in the groove on top, which was probably scrapped out.

03: Basement Window Office
We found some old photos in the basement offices. With a touch-tone phone but no computer, this photo could have been taken anywhere from the late 60s through the 90s. The car outside the window looks like it could be 80s-90s.

04: The same office today
Of course I had to try and retake the photo. I was tempted to hang the clock back up, but I don't like to stage scenes.

05: High Security

06: Animals
why the hell did they need such a huge sign begging people to flush?

07: Basement Infirmary
They had a whole doctor's office down here for the employees. there was so much mold.

08: Hearing Test Booth
They even had one of these.

09: First floor office

10: More old photos
An employee shows off one of their many products.

11: Light Vent

12: Office
Stuff was a mess, but for the most part, not really destroyed.

13: She's the only one for this job
This woman and her well-used intercom were probably the only thing keeping this company together in its last years.

14: Bart's Wages
He worked as a sub-foreman from 1905 until at least 1931. $50 a week in 1928 was about $750 in today's dollars.

15: Clock
Clocks emit chroniton particles, causing nearby paint (and other objects) to age faster.

16: Red Forest
One wing of this building had been vacant and empty for a long time before it was abandoned.

17: Crazy Stairs

18: Informatics
Files, books, and what we think are IBM nine-track data tapes were scattered all over the place.

19: Files

20: Windowbreak
The white building in the distant background is the modern factory of one of the companies that used to operate here in this complex.

Hope you enjoyed, we did. There's a lot to see here, we'll be back many times.

I live very close to this site and there is a whole lot to see. No joke I have been there over twenty times and can still spend all day. It is not one single complex but two adjoining complexes. There are also two other sites not too far away from these two. If you wanted to see everything this area has to offer it would take at least twenty hours.

I did too, it's adorable and a very human element.

This location will be an ongoing project for a long time. I feel like I could easily spend 20 hours in any part of it.
