Boring River-side drain

I've been wanting to check out this drain for a while, and finally I did. There's some recent construction activity, so the entrance may soon be gated.

This is a straight shot 1/4 mile from the river side outfall to a little pond in a golf course. Shallow, clean running water, fresh breeze, no hidden pits, and no used needles.

The drain passes underneath a tram yard with several generations of old trains kicking around in it -- Not pictured but clearly visible up the hill over the outfall. This is of course what makes the drain interesting Unfortunately, the manholes and grates are all rusted shut, and all the top rungs are partially or totally rusted out. It's scary to climb them, and impossible to exert any real force on the manholes without breaking the rungs. I'm interested in how people deal with these...

There's also plenty of other interesting stuff to check out in the area, and some very nice "smoke spots" with excellent views of surrounding highways -- Not pictured because they explicitly show the location.

A word of caution: The park abutting this area is a popular "cruising" spot, meaning a place where (old, unattractive) men go to find anonymous sex. If you are spotted slinking off into the bushes, expect to be followed!

In the surrounding area, there's tons of very old sewers and drains. Some of them are partially collapsed.

The entrance is unmistakable and very easy to find.

And here's the end of the tunnel, where fresh water drains from a pond into the tunnel

Maybe I've got low standards for drains, but it doesn't look boring to me. Looks like a long way up to those manholes, that alone makes it pretty interesting. Scary climbs are fun climbs.

I can deal with spiders and centipedes and other drain dwelling crawlies, but old men looking for sex is a yikes from me.

I come and go like a comet; we are wanderers.
Reports of our eradication have been somewhat exaggerated.

I second that.

Doesn't look so boring, it's a pretty neat spot! I like seeing drains that have architecture besides the same old concrete tubes, that brick manhole would be enough to get me excited about the find.

There's more to life than what you see on the surface...

"Boring" in that it's a straight shot from entrance to exit, with fresh air, no hazards nor opportunities to get lost

There are a few side branches that are all boarded up, like literally with wooden boards. I do wonder whether there's just backfill behind them or something more interesting. The end goal here is exploring the historical green line trains without getting spotted
