A while back JennyUE and I explored an abandoned parade float factory in Chicago, and I've finally gotten around to editing the photo set from that visit. This factory started off manufacturing locomotives to pull mine carts for mining operations, before it eventually became a parade float workshop and warehouse. It was eventually abandoned with pieces of the parade floats scattered throughout the building. Looks like a sweet spot. Love this kind of place.

Cool! That's an awesome lathe. I like #1 too. Very industrial.

These are some great shots, love the skyline, and 1, 4, & 10 are my favorites also. Thanks for sharing!

Giant gears, complex hydraulic circuits, these were some serious parade floats. Love that old blueprint. Did you find any papers with dates on them?
I come and go like a comet; we are wanderers. Reports of our eradication have been somewhat exaggerated. | |

No, unfortunately the only papers left behind were some burnt blueprints. This place was very heavily graffiti'd and smashed up- it's definitely a high traffic abandonment.

Love this set! I'll be checking out this location next week after I explore the radio tower first
