Hey all, it's been a good year for photography after going on an urbex kick for couple of months.
This home was, according to a nearby resident, built by a rancher to house the area's prostitutes. After a handful of incidents where the women didn't return from a trip to town, the home was constructed to keep them housed and safe. To refer to it as a brothel would merely be speculation since it was unlicensed and it's unknown whether or not any business took place on site. The home was two stories, although appearing to be three for the rear due to the hillside exposing the basement on that end, and stands clearly visible for nearly a mile as a haunting addition to the otherwise empty plain. I can easily say this is the most beautiful abandoned structures I've seen in a long time.

Wow, crazy history. Makes me wonder what kinds of stories are behind some of the dilapidated old shacks left off to rot in the middle of nowhere... Part of the reason I like urbex so much, I suppose. Nice set, thanks for sharing

The building itself is pretty generic-looking now. Not that that's bad - I adore that decimated plaster effect and love the colors that remain. It just makes it seem like a shock to know its history. You got great shots. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, looks like you could see that place from a long ways away. Where I am, there's so much forest probably hiding all sorts of abandoned places

Thanks! I see you're in Colorado too. Our abandonments may be few and far between but they have great history if you can find it.

Thank you! I really found the exterior to be quite beautiful. It was such a pleasant contrast to the desolation of the plains.

Yeah, I remember back east I wouldn't find places sometimes until I was at their doorstep. This place towered from more than a mile away.
