Hi this probably has been asked before but oh well and I have no idea if this is the right place to ask. So I'm just been looking for any good games that has a focus on urbex for Xbox or pc, I know that fallout has alot of that but I'm looking for new games so let me know if there is anything that you like playing well not exploring in real life.

The bioshock games always has an exploring feel to them imo
Stealth: adj. designed in accordance with technology that makes detection difficult. Wraith: n. A wisp or faint trace of something | |
A great deal of video games are kind of UE-related when you think about it, going right back to Donkey Kong.

Tomb Raider and Uncharted series maybe?

anything with an open world map

I started playing GTA V at the start of the Covid lockdown. On my first night, I managed to climb three cranes, one bridge, explore subway tunnels, even found a goddamn drain to explore. Also got to do some freight-hopping and tons of rooftops. This game is definitely the closest you can get to urban exploration: it's an open-world map in an urban context, after all. Edit: fixed typos

Now that you mention it, I do always try to climb anything I can to get to the top of any spot.

INFRA is on Steam and was recommended to me by another user here. You play as an infrastructure inspector and go around various abandoned and active sites documenting damage with your camera. You have to explore a lot to get the whole story. There's also The Painscreek Killings, also on Steam, which I'm playing right now. Nothing but a recently abandoned town as the map and it's up to you to piece together a number of murders and disappearances. There's no UI or objectives or tips or anything, it just plops you in and leaves you to figure it out. You get an in-game camera which you can use to take pictures and review them, an it's recommended that you take your own notes. Very much enjoying it so far, and it's on sale for the next few days for 8 bucks. Gonna second the guy who said GTA V, and add GTA IV to the mix thanks to its network of subway tunnels and stations. It was even more fun back in the day because of the "Ratman" myth. If you happen to have a VR headset, you can always try VR exploring for free using SteamVR Home and Google Earth. I made a video about that one a while back, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/jNm3jMRu6-s

What DescentOnARope said is true about VR and Google Earth is true. It was amazing exploring places from my childhood. Google Earth can also take you inside some places. Quite amazing.

Hey that's actually pretty cool. I would use that for some scouting if I had a headset. The Last of us kinda had an Urbex feel to it too, but with zombies...

There's a DOOM .wad file of KPPC which includes a few of the better known buildings and some steam tunnels. Because of the 2-D nature of DOOM, even building 93, you only get part of 2 floors and the attic. I had a copy of it, but it appears to have gotten lost over the years. It may still be out there somewhere.

No mention of DayZ in here? For shame.

Well thank you everyone who has committed so far, I have a few of the games already but there are some games that I'll definitely take a look into since they seem interesting and fun.

i am an Xbox One gamer, gamer tag "RedSamurai33" i have been playing GTA V/GTA V Online for almost 7 years. In fact, i took a night off work the day the game itself dropped and the day the online world premiered, much to the ridicule of the unimaginative bastards i worked with... even now, there is always something to do. BUT, should you wander into an Online lobby, beware, there are people like me who's sole purpose at this point is to murder other players and merely bolster their kill-death ratio. So tread carefully. There is a way to glitch your own lobby to avoid that scenario. Also, unfortunately, money is power in that game. Just a friendly reminder... Another good game with exploration subtext is Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy's The Division" and "Division 2". Sewers to explore, empty buildings... the game universe is set after a genetically engineered small pox virus has been let loose on the world (starting in New York City) on Black Friday. The first game is set in New York, the second in Washington DC, but has expansion packs that take place at the Washington National, The Pentagon, and other places. The most recent expansion, Warlords Of New York, brings the game back to Manhattan. Another game I had played for a bit was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds... it is a battle royale game, but i loved the flavor of it... dropped in an abandoned island world that reeks of eastern Europe, explore houses and bunkers. Defend yourself against dickheads bent on your destruction. It was actually a lot of fun, but broken game mechanics and a developer that really wasn't up to the task of fixing the issues soured me on it. I still have it installed on my console, but i play it rarely. One grumble about it was i had wished that there was an simple exploration mode where a player could wander around the world exploring without have to fear getting blasted by another player. And finally, another really great game with that flavor is the Metro Series... As a fan of the book series, I was delighted when the games were announced and then released. They were very well done. Metro, Metro Last Light and Metro Exodus... they were released by Deep Silver. I have been kind of neglecting my Metro quest as I have been hooked by the aforementioned Division/Division 2 game. The games, like the books, are set in the Moscow Metro years after a nuclear war obliterated the world. You don't have to read the books to know what is going on, but it adds to the experience. Metro Exodus takes the experience out of underground and into the world. Definitely worth a look.
Anyways, everyone always says the Fallout series, but honestly, Fallout bored the stuffing out of me. I might give it a revisit at some point as the pandemic continues into it's second wave.

If you want to go back even further, Hunt the Wumpus is available for Android from the Play Store.

Actually Pitfall 2 from Activision was a bit adventurous and quite good for its time.
