Dallas Explorer!

Hello all!

I’m an urbex’r from Dallas, Texas!... not new to UER or urban exploring..but am new to the forums itself... I’ve been exploring for about 8 years; one of the best explores I did was the baker hotel and was the only time I’ve been caught exploring out of all my time doing so and this is when I first started exploring so now I’ve learned from my mistakes from then... anyways here are some pictures from my recent exploration.. an abandoned farmhouse in Mckinney..and various other explores around Dallas... but none the less I’m happy to finally be a part of the forums and hope to meet some of you guys soon!

Yay, another Dallas member!

We have something in common, as I too have been caught at the Baker and paid a very steep fine in the form of a trespassing ticket. I suspect we were ticketed because the cops had to climb all the way up to the tower to catch us! Every other time I've been let off with a warning - except one other time and that was way worse than a ticket, but that's another story...

I love that you posted photos! That McKinney house looks really familiar but I don't think I've seen the inside of it. I haven't scouted the McKinney region as much recently, but I've spent at least two or three years scouring that area, Frisco, Celina, etc. looking for the houses being sold as "lot/land," or parcels (ie, demolition). I've found some really awesome explores that way, but they seem to be a little harder to come by lately as the land is being increasingly developed now.

***********************

Here are a few photos I dug up from the Prosper/McKinney/Sherman area. Maybe you'll recognize one or two of them:

IMG_4613.JPG [/url]

This house was a great explore with a very narrow window of opportunity before it got demolished. We found drug paraphernalia in this one too:

Anyways, welcome to UER, and feel free to ask questions. I'm usually more or less active around here!

Thank you all, luckily we didn’t receive a ticket (probably cause it had a lot to do with us getting caught in the lobby instead of the tower) 😂 but yes dee, you’re absolutely right stuff around this area is definitely getting more and more scarce... that house still standing is a modern miracle; but I do highly suggest you explore it before Mckinney removes it... lots of cool old stuff scattered throughout... as far as the “signs” or certain equipment on property I can safely say it’s untrue.. also haywire I’m always down to explore... today I’m making my way to Galveston island and hopefully getting some explorations out of the way... I was going to try to check out the brewery but last time I went which was about a year or so ago it was being renovated so I wasn’t able to access it at the time... but I will definitely ask the locals and see if they have any leads.. or more than likely google sat around.

I definitely suggest the brewery when you're in Galveston... if they haven't renovated all of it already. I only got to explore a small section of it (construction crews showed up while I was there and so I had to leave) a couple years ago, but if it's doable, it's worth it.

Welcome to the board. Haven't had a huge opportunity in last couple yeard to do much except when related to work but i finished some major projects so hoping to get back into doing some these next few months. Agree on your comments about Mckinney/frisco areas , it seems as fast as you find somethng it gets dozed for another shopping center or mcmansion.

Sorry for the late reply everyone, unfortunately since it was planned during the peak of the protests, riots and since we have to pass by downtown Houston we decided it was a smart decision to not go (thankfully) apparently they were blocking the main roads we needed to pass... but it will be rescheduled; as soon as stuff calms down I think I’m going to set my sights to the Texas & pacific warehouse in downtown Fort Worth.. I have a friend that lives out there and says it’s a somewhat repetitive explore but definitely worth checking out... so I may be doing that here soon... anyone of you ever explore it?

So I checked out T&P this past weekend and it was pretty cool to finally knock it out of my list... but to be honest it was a very underwhelming exploration but as to be expected it was a warehouse and with that came a repetitive exploration... although the frames of what was once offices still remain and some elevator mechanics... the view from the roof is definitely amazing.

Thats no lie, Had to bail out twice 18 19 years ago due to noisy kids and some ghost busters shining flashlights around. then me and Barry tried again in like 2005 and same thing happened.

Well now its all fenced off and theyre taking all the glass out of the upper floor windows, nobody getting in now nothing to see here

is it going to be partial demo / half an implosion upstairs?

I haven’t heard anything about an implosion, but they do have security cameras (that actually work) now and they will arrest you if they catch you. They will also look for you after the fact if they don’t catch you in the act, so I’d suggest avoiding the Baker. It’s gutted now anyways.

Cant recall where I heard this but 'sposedly they were going to remove the top floors leaving a 6 or 8 story building, didnt give it much credence seems like more trouble than its worth but I also didnt believe somebody would buy it and do stuff to it!

It might be too late for the brewery in Galveston:

Another project has been completed at the historic 330,000 SF Falstaff Brewery building in Galveston at 3301 Church Street. Events @ The Tasting Room was recently unveiled; it is actually the original tasting room of the Falstaff Brewery. The new venue features two large dining halls, a conference room, bridal room and rooftop patio with a nearly 360-degree view of downtown Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico. Being a historic building, all work was done under guidelines adhering to the authenticity of the 1905 building. The boutique hotel is planned to be completed by the fall of 2021.“

I personally haven't heard anything about removing the upper levels, but the new owners have an Instagram page @thebakerhotelandspa, and they are very transparent with future plans and construction updates. They've released floor plans for every level up to the 12th, and the uppermost floors being mostly machinery it sounds like they will utilize the building to its full capacity.

I drove past the Baker a month or two ago and they are renovating all the floors. The new windows are going all the way up to the cloud room - which they also have special plans for, at least that's what I read on their blog.
I think it's safe to say no upper level implosion is happening, which is a good thing, IMO.

The renovation is no joke. They are full send on it. And they are uploading videos on YouTube of their process.
