I once found a dead pig. I have no idea how it ended up in front of a drain.

Thankfully, that's the only story I have that begins with those words.

Strangely enough, it wasn't a particularly disturbing experience. It was actually gratifying to realize that every single person in that room had left their bodies to science so that first-year med school kids could have at 'em and learn. Something I should probably do myself, but I'm not comfortable with the idea of people looking over my lungs and liver after I'm gone and saying "why in the fuck would anyone do that to themselves"?

I'd love to go back some day just to witness all the squeamishness that must go down on "Dissection Day", but it's not the sort of event McGill advertises on their web site.

I found a burned down house where it seems very likely that the former occupant(s) died. There was police tape, but every other aspect of the house was left untouched. Family portraits, notebooks, awards, trinkets, etc. Considering how well preserved some of it was, it's hard for me to believe someone wouldn't come back and retrieve some of it unless there was a tragic circumstance.

Not my story to tell, but I'll tell it anyway. It was told to me directly by the person it happened too.

about 20 years ago, Detroit had a small but active UE scene -- some real pros, obviously with a tremendous number of juicy targets, and this was a little before City of Detroit got annoyed that their urban decay was becoming an attraction for tourists from around the world (which resulted in Detroit PD reluctantly cracking-down on people caught UE'ing, more properties being securely sealed, etc).

David (wow, I just remembered his last name -- I won't give it, but it started with K & ended with ____man) was a local in his early 20s, and was solo exploring some tall abandoned high-rise in downtown Detroit (the place is probably expensive apartments or condos now) when he happened to see something strange. Upon closer examination, it was a severed finger, and it was laying in an area near/under something where he quickly deduced what'd happened, and that the person was maybe a squatter or fellow explorer, that ran out of the place after the incident, never notifying anyone.

David actually decided to take the finger to the nearest police station (that would have been the 1st Precinct, colocated with DPD HQ at 1300 Beaubien in downtown Detroit). So even though it may have required him to admit he'd been trespassing, I guess he thought it was his civic duty to 'give them the finger' (a man ahead of his time...).

But he told me how he walked-in with it & started to explain the situation and showed them the severed finger, and none of them wanted anything to do with the situation -- it was unpleasantry ruining their peaceful afternoon hanging out at the 1st Precinct.

Alas, I can't recall what ended-up happening, specifically, if they reluctantly accepted the finger from him, or if he had to figure out somewhere else to take it to. I seem to recall him saying that it wasn't completely desiccated like it'd been severed months or years prior.

P.S. I've seen a body in the shipwreck of the SS Kamloops
https://en.wikiped...g/wiki/SS_Kamloops And yes, even though it sunk in 1927, it wasn't a skeleton -- cold water & low oxygen levels caused the body tissues to saponify, not decay/be eaten by marine life.

Not exactly creepy per say, but I often think about this art I found in a camp close to Sonora. Pretty cool stuff

Not exactly creepy but these things are known to be possessed or something. The NSA seemed to think they were Chinese spyware and banned them back in 1999. I found it in what was left of a decommissioned cement plant, so I guess someone really wanted to get rid of it. (I do apologize for the absolutely horrendous image quality)

Went exploring in what is most likely an abandoned military facility. I had just gotten done looking around the whole area, and as I was leaving I saw some graffiti on a rock that said “Dead body ahead.” Could have very well been some kid messing around, but it was getting dark and I honestly didn’t want to see in the case there was one. So, who knows?

Have had many scary encounters with suspiciously body shaped tarps haha, one of which actually reeked of death. Luckily never found anything too horrifying underneath.

We're new here and to the forum scene in general, any etiquette pointers are appreciated. Stay scary!

I have to say, that my weirdest thing so far has been this installation.

This is the cleaning closet of an abandoned school in Hamina, Finland. There's a taxidermy swan sitting on a chair in there. On the note on the door are official instructions by the city cleaning office on the correct use of cleaning rags. They are color coded for different purposes.

Although the creepiest ever find was last summer in an abandoned house in a small village somewhere in Finland. A family's belongings had been left the way they were before somebody broke in and messed up everything.

And everything, literally everything was there from the tv set and furniture, bookshelves and so on. Upstairs were two bedrooms and the other one was littered with a child's assignment books, essays and etc.

Well I found the child's name in a social security card in the house, and they would be in their early 20's now if they still lived. Out of plain curiosity I looked up them from Facebook and realized we had one mutual friend.

I called my friend and asked who this person was. It was in fact her close relative. I told her what I had found, and she said it was impossible, as the family had never lived in the place.

It turned out that they had indeed been living there, and the family was completely unaware of the fact that one of the parents had left everything behind after strange turns in life.

The relatives of my friend arranged all personal information cleaned up from the house after that.

It's an incredible feeling when urbex detective work pays off and ends with you talking to a real person.

OT: I spotted this guy in a room beyond a whole in a wall. Looked to be in good enough shape that I thought it must have been a very recent death. The only reason I didn't think it might be alive was because it didn't run when I entered. Very strange decay here, like the whole body is fine except for the face, which is missing the eyes and decomposing into some white goop.

while roaming northern ontario last summer i came across a semi-collapsed cottage and thought i'd check it out. the place was essentially a time capsule home, and i plan to head back once i can get up there again. i remember being incredibly unsettled by the piles and piles of shotgun rounds. paired with gun ownership/sales magazines from the late 50s/early 60s, they made more sense, but it was still pretty scary to show up there in the middle of the night and have hordes of ammo be the first thing you encounter. :)

In the attic area of a psych ward's medical building, there was a mattress covered in plushie animals with a framed picture of a little girl at the head. Less scary since the state of the plushies leads me to believe it was just someone's photo shoot.

Also, in the basement of the geriatric ward, finding the entrance to the steam tunnels and climbing down what was almost more of a ladder than a staircase, and realizing halfway down that someone had left candles on either side of each rung.

The creepiest thing though was probably the daycare in an abandoned health club. It wasn't a big building, but the door was so dark and partially covered that it went unnoticed during two explores and I only realized there was a room we hadn't seen when looking through pictures. Went back for the third time, but it was too dark to see inside the room and there was insulation hanging down, so I poked my camera in and used the flash.
