Hello, I am new to urbex and was wondering if anybody had some useful tips on how to go about finding locations(I'm not looking for anybody tell me any locations). I'm really just wondering if there are any websites/government data bases where I could find leads on recently abandoned places, which I could go checkout in person. If not I'm not opposed to google maps or just driving around.

No need to double post dude. Anyway, read through the "How to find locations" links on the common thread topics list.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

Try googling generic terms in your area like "abandoned Dallas" or "underground tunnels Boston" usually big projects and high profile abandonments end up in the news and thus on Google. Might not help if you don't live near a big city though.

1. Boolean searches have proven useful for me (with Google search engine - most of the other search engines are limited or won’t at all let you use this method). Incidentally, If you don’t know how to do a Boolean search, it would take about five minutes to learn the most basic commands. It basically will help you drill down and narrow down your search results and make them more useful. 2. You asked about specific websites. If you’re in the US, the EPA has tons of data that is accessible and I’ve found it to be quite useful - especially when they add to their superfund lists! 3. I also suggest checking out ESRI (Arcgis) maps. Lots of federal agencies, and just about any other group you can think of, publishes maps of all kinds on here and it’s free to access this feature.

Let friends that you trust know about your hobby. Ask them to let you know of any interesting sites they may notice in their travels. Lots of eyes are better than two.

Ride around the city and look around yourself. Don't rely on listings or maps all the time. The best places aren't listed anywhere, especially not on this sites map lol You'll find a huge facility soon. That much i promise you.
