Nice work! I'm not sure what kind of lens you used but I'm liking the perspective on those.

Did you end up checking out the basement or trying to climb the steeple?

When did that debris net go in?

I was there about a year or so ago and don't recall seeing it.

It was there last November at least, so it's been up for a few months minimum.

There is (or at least, was) a fairly easy to reach spot where you can look down into the transcept crossing and above the level of the net.

One of my cell phone pictures from 2008:

I have an idea.

I am using a Sigma 18-35 1.8 Art lens, I got rid of all my other lenses and use that one exclusively now. It's not as wide as my last sigma (10-20) but it's a much MUCH better quality lens! And it weighs as much as my other older 3 lenses combined LOL

Stupidly, I didn't go into the basement and I wanted to climb the steeple but my gut told me not to, and I always listen to my gut!!

Schweet pics man! Great eye. The light in the second shot and the composition on the tenth one really stand out!

I’m fairly certain that net was there last time we went in 2017. I also recall reading a post here some time ago, that the net went up not too long after the roof collapsed.

I believe the net went in during the filming of one of the Transformer movies or Sense8 as a safety precaution for the crews.

This church will never get old for pictures
Awesome shot as always!

Freaktography, did you check out the view from the roof? If you can angle it well, you can get a very good picture with Sun puncturing the stained glass of the front of the Church. It's an awesome sight if you can climb through all the debris and avoid the falls around.

Couldn't get a clear view. But on the roof, you can get nice angle similar to this but take it much better than me:
(Edit: not sure why the picture came out sideways...)

I’m usually more one for “fresh” sites that aren’t too tagged up and maintain some evidence of what they functioned as. But I must say, this site and your photos are truly glorious!

I'm curious as to how much more damage there is to this place following the derecho.

Unrelated to the huge storm/almost tornado last week, but the debris net is broken now so be careful walking about the main hallway.

Edit: I was here like 2 or 3 weeks ago and saw it.

Oh geez, I was thinking of going there and filling the debris net with balloons to give the place a New Years Eve Party look.
