Sharing Locations

Now, obviously sharing locations on here is a big no no. But what about in real life? Would you ever take someone you know, like an irl friend, to a spot you like?

I only tell IRL friends about a place if I want them to go with me

I tell friends about places if I've explored with them. If they're not "serious", I'll share them only places everyone know. If they're really serious and respectful, I'll even share them my potential discoveries.

Always.

I never explore alone unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Of course ill tell friends or UE contacts about locations.

It depends on trust and how well you know the person.

For example i would share a 4/10 location with some and 10/10 locations with some, based on how i know them and how they walk in the game.

Sharing is a thing, exchaging is another. THIS is a no no.

The one who give only to have exchange "money" are the worst, i never give anything to someone like that or someone who will just give me info or a spot if i give them something in return.

We should only share because we want to share, not to have someting in return.

I do share with people I trust. I haven't shared any sensitive locations on this site because my only options seem to be public forums and I'm not trying to get stuff vandalized.

You could make a thread private after posting it as a basic member.

I didn't know that. So wait a private thread is not visible to the public but still visible to members on the forum? Is it only visible to full members or other basic members too?

As of today, I only trust 4 people in what we do and only 2 of these people are on this site with us.

I would like to trust everyone who is registered here, but the problem is that we are all behind screens and keyboards to write what we write. I was the first to want everyone to benefit from my discoveries, but I learned that I can no longer afford it.

Today, whenever I wonder if I can trust someone, I wonder if I would be willing to put my life in the hands of that person. If I hesitate on my answer, whatever it is, I don't share anything.

I have learned over time what really is what we do and that it is not for everyone.

At first, I told myself that I was not allowed to go or be in such a place, then over time, I also began to tell myself that these are only places.

It was one of my mistakes. In my opinion, we owe respect to what we visit and that it is our responsibility what happens if we share locations or informations.

Now, I follow the principle that there is a cost for what we do, because there is one and I, being an ethical person, am not unaware.

To conclude, this is why I only share with these 4 people, and also, because I know them to a minimum and I have already explored with them in the past. I trust them because of their commitment.

Like most people here, I've been asked "where is this" far too many times.

When I find something cool I usually keep it to myself. I dont post photos or go bragging to everyone in private messages. I might send out one or two messages if its something I've discussed with someone or if it will be of particular interest. Unless somebody directly asks me about the place I keep it off the radar.

If a friend is in town I'll show them something in person. If I'm planning a trip with someone and we are comparing notes then obviously the locations are being discussed. Im very picky about who I befriend so I trust them to use their discretion with posting and discussing stuff. And that goes both ways. On the very rare occasion that someone gives me info I have no problem withholding that information, even if a friend is asking. If I was told about something in confidence and can't violate that trust. And I would expect them to do the same.

There are a handful of local spots that I don't say a word about to anyone and then when they eventually pop up I'll start telling friends about them before the instagram swarm comes through. I used to leave hints in my pseudonyms but even that's too easy these days. People can't be "trusted" just because they explore. Even if they've been at it a while.

Honestly above everything else, exploring is just so much more fun when you're going in with little to no idea what to expect.

WTF?

Hell, sharing locations and photos is half the fun.

Unless youre a certified introvert its not big "no no" just don't post the address or the point of entry, use synonymous names and if its such a top secret explore jjust don't post it.

Youre a basic member the WWW sees what you did, so just post generic info don't get too explicit but go ahead and share.

Anyone and everyone wants to ask where something is. If I tell someone more than my usual brush off it’s because I’d like them to go on that explore with me for whatever reason.

I've got one friend in particular who I always ask about spots before I go to them unless they're well known. He's saved me from getting caught by security or from going to a demolished site several times. Other than that, sometimes I'll take my friends to common spots. I also trade farm houses with people because I can't find them all myself haha

I don't do it anymore because when I did, I would see it on social media several days later with the location added. I don't really have a problem with going alone but if I bring someone, they're either well-versed in this community or I REALLY trust them.

By locations I meant addresses, which is what you talked about.

I learned the hard way that sharing locations can lead to vandalism so from that moment forward I only share with people I trust or other people I know that are serious about exploring. For me personally I care about the places I go to and as corny as it sounds I cherish the stories that were once made there so to share it with someone, I need to know I can trust them not to mess it up and that they have the same respect for the spot that I do

I share the locations only to my fiends who are also into photography and don't reveal locations at all either. That, or family members I know I can trust to not reveal these locations.
I've seen too many locations vandalized. Especially in the Chicago areas...
