Clarification: A lot of great stuff is in New York. Once you go to Staten Island and beyond, there's a lot of garbage graffiti. But otherwise, NYC improved and perfected it here. It's hard to find places where it's more prevalent, more clever, larger, more colorful, more historic...
I like large-scale, creative, intricate pieces in hard-to-reach places.
People who ruin those pieces are in the category of "this is why we can't have nice things".
I don't like defacement of what's natural and otherwise pristine abandoned areas.
Old tags in tunnels or obscure locations are cool because some have survived for literal decades and will likely remain that way, so there is history there, and it's affirmation that you aren't alone.

I think graffiti is wonderful. It seems to be agreed that murals and pieces have artistic integrity, but I think tags do too. I don't know any graffiti artists, but I very much doubt they go out thinking "if I tag this place it will ruin someone's photo". I can see how it makes sense to tag places where ownership is ambiguous - like an abandoned house. I don't know if they would be thinking about the possibility that the home is owned by someone or could return to being lived in.
I feel like if I keep typing I will fall into the trap of explaining there is a 'polite' way to do graffiti and some is good and some is bad. I think this quote from Banksy's "Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall" is more accurate:
"You could say graffiti is ugly, selfish and that it's just the action of people who want some pathetic kind of fame. But if that's true it's only because graffiti writers are just like everyone else in this fucking country"
I don't mean to say anyone on UER is ugly, selfish and in search of pathetic fame. But I do think if you consider it ethical enough for a stranger to traipse through a place taking photos, then graffiti also deserves to be in that space.
I find it more exciting to see people pathetically reaching for fame through tags than the hoards of photoshopped selfies I'm bombarded with on my peers instagram stories. At least the taggers went outside.

I've yet to see the amazing quality works people post pics of. However the buildings I've been to all have forests of penis shafts in them. I don't see art.

That quote itself is kind of pathetic. Bank robbers or serial killers could just as effectively use that to justify their crimes.
There is a sliding scale of ethics. Obviously urban exploring isn't as selfless as donating blood, but for reasons that should be obvious it is less intrusive and has fewer consequences than doing the same activity plus graffiti. They commit more and worse legal offences, damage property, get sites locked down, contribute to urban decay and theoretically increase crime rates, and put our community at greater risk.
Criminal activity is relative and measurable. Going back to bank robbers, some of them kill people during their robberies, and some don't. I doubt there'd be much debate on their moral relativity and whether the latter deserve lighter punishment than the former.

In Korea, the most popular graffiti is just the word "sex," written in English. This is the only case I can think of of graffiti showing a dick.
