So there is seriously no one around here? I would like to show off some of the places I've discovered over the years in my area. And meet other peeps who are into this sorta thing because going at it alone is rather lame sometimes. If no ones interested or doesn't trust me I guess that's understandable.

I don't think it's that no one is there. I think it's that few routinely check UER. Everyone is saying that UER is dead, people have moved on. I don't even really know where they've moved to except Facebook. Seems like Facebook has destroyed forums in general. Which royally sucks, because info on forums is documented and searchable forever. Facebook is just a fleeting glimpse and then hell if you can ever find or search for something you're looking for again.

It's a sign of the times.

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.

Yeah, it's a shame. It seems to me that most of the newer explorers are going to Instagram, with Facebook picking up the rest. UER just isn't as accessible- you need to make an account, wait three days to post, and even finding this site takes a bit of work. It's just so much easier to use a hashtag on a platform most of my generation already uses.

I mean, maybe a #UER hashtag could be created or something but I don't really think that would go over well with the existing community. From what I've gathered the urbex community has become decentralized away from sites like this, and the time when people would seek out forums like this is fading.

I definitely agree with that. When I was initially searching for a proper Urbex forum, I joined one on Facebook. A year later, the entire forum and all the sites discovered were taken down by Facebook. Which to me is tragic because they had some amazing hidden gems that are now demolished.

These forums are good because I doubt we have to ever worry about it getting removed anytime soon. The small community is kind of good too as I'm sure a lot of you guys are closer that way I think.

Facebook and Instagram are extremely unreliable although I would be lying if I said I didn't post Urbex related stuff on there every once in while. Maybe in hopes of Instagram being sustained longer and finding more than one community to connect with. But most of them are far too etched into getting likes.

If it helps, I live about 2 and a half hours from Battlecreek.
it might seem far, but I do plan on bringing a few of my friends on a roadtrip there so we could meet sometime that way.
It just depends on the virus now unforgettably.

I don't understand why. I much prefer forums. I am a part of a few, one for motorized bicycles, one for vintage electronics, this one and I'm even an administrator on one forum revolving around lighting technology. I find the idea of a forum to be much more useful for these sorts of hobbies. It is more functional to have a searchable database of things rather than a huge molded together list of things with a subpar search capability.

I think part of it might be laziness. Why go through the effort of joining a forum when they could just find a group on farcebook.

That'd be pretty cool, so wait you guys were already planning on visiting Battle Crack? Or is it just on the way to elsewhere? I do have quite a few locations in store here. I'm sure a couple around here are already known about by you guys (maybe?) there is a couple real obvious ones here. but i know for a fact that not all of them are known. I've lived here my whole life and have been combing through this place for a while. Unfortunately a few places have gone away over the years. For instance the old forklift factory was burnt to the ground. Someone started a metal fire. And colors on the corner was demolished in 2018. And the heritage tower is in the final stages of being renovated after spending 15 years being neglected. But there is still alot here in this town. Or atleast what I know as "a lot". You being in Chicago. probably have a different definition of "a lot" lol.

We were planning on just exploring Michigan as a road trip around some states. But if you know of some cool places, I would definitely love to visit them. Just not at the moment while the virus is still going around.

Chicago has a lot of great places to explore. The only issue is that most are sealed off tight, in the process of being demolished, or just guarded so heavily that it's next to impossible to get in. Getting caught in Chicago can go under felony for trespassing. So it's pretty hard to do anything there right now. But hey, what can you do : /
