Posted by blackhawk Current US death rate is 2.16% and rising. https://www.google...a-grim-update/amp/ The USA will recover from this fully within a year and surge into new growth phase. Why? Because the rest of the world will be much harder hit including China. The USA was at the top to begin with and the ramifications of this pandemic will only strengthen her position. Be glad you live in the greatest nation on earth. Our system is working... and much better than any other on earth. All you need do is survive. Im a pragmatist; pessimists please feel free to use this perfect excuse to take the back door out of here

What an effing joke you are, pal.

I made a few calculations according to the latest numbers of Covid-19 cases in Quebec, Canada, and the USA and to compare the statistics. Here's the raw data I used, dated April 2nd: # of cases in Qc: 5 518 # of cases in CAN: 11 047 # of cases in the USA: 210 000 #deaths in QC (covid-19 related): 36 #deaths in CAN (covid-19 related): 111 #deaths in the USA (covid-19 related): 5000 Total population in Qc: 8 485 000 Total population in CAN: 37 590 000 Total population in the USA: 327 200 000 Mortality rate (#deaths / # cases) QC: 0.65% CAN: 1% USA: 2.38% Percentage of total population infected (#cases / total pop.) QC: 0.065% CAN: 0.03% USA: 0.06% So yeah, our country is getting fucked like everyone else, but still has it a little better than the USA.

All the statistics and whatnot aside, the most heavily affected area in NYC and its suburbs. NYC is a densely populated area that is heavily dependent on mass transit. In the presence on a communicable disease, that's a recipe for disaster. Iowa isn't experiencing anywhere near the number of cases and majority of them are in 2 metropolitan areas. The Iowa City/Cedar Rapid/Waterloo corridor and the Des Moines metro area have more cases than rest of the state. Yesterday's exploration trip was in Greene County. There are no COVID-19 cases in Greene County.

Posted by Aran They've got prisoners from Rikers Island digging mass graves in NYC as we speak. |
That's been going on for over 100 years.

Indeed. Potter's Field... A trench at the potter's field on Hart Island, New York, circa 1890 by Jacob Riis Maybe Ellis Island shouldn't have been closed... and been expanded. A 1000 extra beds with full medical facilities be nice now. Money that funded failed Welfare housing could have gone here. https://en.m.wikip...Immigrant_Hospital

I explored Ellis Island with my cousins in the 1970s before they restored it. That place was as bad of a wreck as Letchworth although it was mostly mother nature and not much vandalism.

Well here's an interactive map of NYC to see where the hotspots are. https://projects.p...graphics/covid-nyc I think Astoria Heights is getting a bad rap because it's the same ZIP code as Riker's Island. The Brooklyn Borscht Belt is not so good either. My home 20 is that strip of land at the bottom. Good 'ol 11693 which unfortunately includes Broad Channel, but hey.

Says the guy crying that people are "bringing politics into it". Talking about Trump's failed response is far more relevant to the conversation than this random welfare stump you decided to climb up onto.

That's not politics, it's ancient history. Before you were born.

Posted by MysteriousExpedition Are you guys still out exploring? I'm avoiding it until, hopefully, the rate decreases. But if it takes too long, I don't know how much longer the explorer side of me will hold on :/

Posted by und3rlie Currently on day 12 of lockdown. Not allowed to leave the house except to go to the grocery store. A couple of days ago I could at least go out hiking but officials are beginning to shut down the local parks as well. If police find that you are just out and about they can fine you or worse. It was at first just a threat but now they are beginning to enforce it. Needless to say I won't be able to explore for a little while.
|
Yes, I continue to explore, but I explore less than before. Good luck and keep up! No lockdown for us. I live in North America in Canada in the province of Quebec in Montreal. Roadside checks just start in some more remote areas. Be safe and don't forget to wash your hands!

You must feel like a pile of steamy pig shit, to be as old as you are, and given zero shits about by anyone. And uer be the only place you get any meaning. Maybe, if you're lucky. You'll be included in the 80% to get Covid. And actually feel apart of a community. Haha. You fucking jooooke.
