At the risk of invoking the wrath of moderators who usually shut down threads that get too political (Hi Steed!) this absolutely is a political issue. Our president failed us. Which is not a surprise to many of us but it still burns.
Trump shut down the pandemic office because "it wasn't necessary." Trump downplayed the severity of the threat because it would make him look bad. Trump is currently withholding critical medical supplies from states who's governors don't line up to kiss his feet. Trump outright stated that he cares more about the stocks of his corporate sponsors than he does about the lives of the American citizens he swore an oath to defend. Instead of "the buck stops here" the official Oval Office stance is "I take no responsibility." Our leadership has failed us exactly when we needed it the most, and if decisive action had been taken when this was first reported we wouldn't need a lockdown in the first place- and the blame for the impending tragedy lies squarely upon the President and his party.

More political bs. Just the kind of shit I expect from you. As usual my initial assessment of you was spot on. I'm enjoying this immensely, troll.

Keep politics out of it. Hindsight is 20/20. Also this spread like wild fire everywhere. You think any policy or funding would have made a difference? Quit trying to bring politics into everything.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but around here, things are just inconvenient right now. School is closed indefinitely. Restaurants, bars and a lot of small box stores are closed. We're just sort of riding it out.
In order to use your head, you have to go out of your mind. |

this seems weird as Jews are very very smart what is going on here?
Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah |

That’s how it felt in early March in the Bay. If I weren’t still working FTE on-site I think I’d find SIP more difficult. I hope you’re area gets to remain in the mild inconvenience status through this!

Is this Elmhurst in Illinois? If it is, I'm really close to that area. Either way, this is like something straight out from the movie "28 Days Later"... Hellish

In larger, Orthodox communities, the "social life" centers around life cycle events like weddings, milestone birthdays, bris, funerals, etc.. Because those events have religious implications, it's almost like you're committing a sin by not having those celebrations. Like for a wedding or funeral. The ENTIRE community is supposed to participate. Usually this is done at a massive wedding party or graveside service. The Lubavitch Chassidim in Brooklyn came up with a workaround for the mandatory party and well wishing by setting up a parade of sorts. People that are sheltering-in-place get s SHAS* notification of a wedding or funeral. On a predetermined time, the bride and groom ride in a car or the deceased in hearse ride through the community on predetermined route. People can fulfil their religious obligations from the sidewalk as the vehicle goes by. That way social distancing is maintained without violating religious obligations. Today, there was a funeral and this article shows the route: https://crownheigh...roel-friedman-obm/
*SHAS is the informal name for a global notification system that the Lubavitch have had since the 1970s. Their last Rebbe was a Sorbonne educated Electrical Engineer and being technologically literate is respected in the Lubavitch world. Here's a story about it: https://www.chabad...adcast-Network.htm

Man is a social creature by hard wiring from the dawn of primates and 50+kyr of self design/determination. The ancient religious symbols are close to or even part of the genetic memories in mankind. Mankind and Judaism have survived far worse than this minor cataclysm...

Ah, ad hominem attacks in response to anyone who disagrees with you. Classy as always.

My advise, really, is to simply scroll past anything Blackhawk posts. Don't read it, and move on.

Aran and your little power play didn't pan out back in December. Peas in a pod. Expect blowback for eternity but don't act like such a whiney little butthurt bitch... or think any good will come from it. Maybe you could start a private Politics Board. Better do it soon cause the coronavirus is fixing to tone you down proper.

My dumb fuckin' brother died in November and I was only midway through cleaning up his affairs when the covid shit got serious on this side of the pond. How in the fuck am I supposed to sell his house (our inheritance, basically) in this climate? Then one of his dumb fuckin' Persian cats up and died on me Monday. At least the SPCA is operational. They took that horrible pile of fur off my hands for a measly $20, for which I am grateful. You know what weirds me out the most? I live pretty close to the airport, and I'm pretty geeked out about planes. These days I'm seeing about one plane in the air per day. It's not post 9/11 weird. But things are right up there on the weird-factor scale. Edit: Wordal spasticity ~Wang

In 30 days it will die down. Until then just post it like you normally would. If prospective real estate agents, buyers want to meet with you/look at it, let them. The risk is everywhere anyway. Do what needs to be done...

New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Louisiana. If I'm honest and I know this isn't a popular opinion but snowbirds from NYC are well let's just say they really won't be that missed if they can't come here for awhile.
The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave. |

Oh snap my bad. There are a few Elmhursts around I think. I'm just so accustomed to the one here haha. And I think there's a similar situation at their hospitals too. Although not to the degree as the one in New York
