Doesn't matter. It's that contagious.

Dude, don't promote stupidity. There is not one credible scientist in the whole world that would deem hanging out in close proximity with a bunch of potential-infectoids as a 'whatever' situation. If you're not social-distancing these days, you're an utter and complete idiot.

if you arent social distancing then the virus will continue to spread, simple as that.

we have already started to lose huge numbers of first responders, the FDNY has moved to "fallback step 3" reducing response times and going to calls "at your discretion" good luck if you need an ambulance in NYC right now for a non COVID-19 call. Santa Rosa PD lost one of thier sergeants to the disease as well. poor woman worked her whole life as a LEO only to die from this bullshit.

And claiming that "I'll probably survive it so who cares?" is a selfish mentality that would easily be responsible for harming a great number of people.

Sweden agrees.
China lied.
You're the blind one.
I predict it will spread like wildfire in spite of "massive" intervention.
You don't get it.
This isn't the flu.
It's fucking more contagious than ebola.
Worst of the worst as far as being contagious in the airborne pathogens.
In other fucking words all these measures they have taken are pitifully inadequate for THIS virus

Social distancing, and lock down. Aren't going to stop the virus. But, what it is intended for, is to slow the spread, especially to try to prevent hospitals from being overrun, Italy style. Supposedly it will work for that purpose. At least more so than letting it run rampant.
The important thing to realize, the reason everyone should be trying their hardest not to get it, isn't just so they don't get it. But to not spread it, and spread it to someone who potentially will end up needing a hospital bed.

Nail on head.

Americans it seems in large parts simply don't get it and are taking the stand that 'I aint gon' have no gubbermint tell me what to do', which is an attitude that will result in needless deaths and all of this dragging on for a hell of a lot longer.

Here in the UK I've walked into the city centre where I live to get food supplies a few times now and it's a ghost town pretty much. There are still a handful of people around doing the same as me but no groups, no families, barely any homeless people too as many of those have been put up in empty hotels now. We've just got to go along with it for now and all got to hope that the measures we are taking will go some way to making it more manageable.

As I predicted the US in now effectively a state of Martial Law.

In 63 years I have never seen the USA locked down like this.
They're using the term "at war".
The are limiting store hours and allowing only certain ones to be open.
A 20 minute line outside Walmart and a fat deputy protecting it.
Only 100 allowed in at a time.
Only 2 checkout cashiers lol, normal.

Why do you think they're throwing money at you?
Yeah, we're boned...

They are at war, at war with an invisible enemy that has the potential to wipe out a huge amount of the population if left unchecked and, in the US especially, a secondary war against a large amount of the population who either seem to think that nothing is wrong and it's all a conspiracy or that all of these restrictions are unnecessary and only there to cause issues for people.

Those two kinds of people in the US need to start taking this seriously immediately because it's going to get a hell of a lot worse over there before it gets better.

The UK recorded 568 deaths today, the most we've had in one day and it's going to keep climbing for at least another week until whatever the effects of the social distancing and restrictions start to work.

In the US it's already 100% out of control is my estimation.
Reckless acts like the spring breakers ensured this...
In reality the US can not shutdown longer than a month.
Lessons from war...
Survival of the fittest; the veneer of civilization is quite thin.

Absolutely it's out of control over there thanks largely in part to Trump's repeated downplaying of it and his handling of it when there should have been firm decisive action taken as soon as possible - its the same fate that befell us here in the UK as well, the action taken although the right course was too late to prevent it getting out of hand and now we're all playing catch up whilst people die.

Yes, well...
However, the virus has not loosened its chokehold on New York City. As of Tuesday evening, there were over 75,800 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New York State – or over 40 percent of total cases in the United States – with over 43,000 in New York City alone.

At the risk of invoking the wrath of moderators who usually shut down threads that get too political (Hi Steed!) this absolutely is a political issue. Our president failed us. Which is not a surprise to many of us but it still burns.

Trump shut down the pandemic office because "it wasn't necessary." Trump downplayed the severity of the threat because it would make him look bad. Trump is currently withholding critical medical supplies from states who's governors don't line up to kiss his feet. Trump outright stated that he cares more about the stocks of his corporate sponsors than he does about the lives of the American citizens he swore an oath to defend.

Instead of "the buck stops here" the official Oval Office stance is "I take no responsibility." Our leadership has failed us exactly when we needed it the most, and if decisive action had been taken when this was first reported we wouldn't need a lockdown in the first place- and the blame for the impending tragedy lies squarely upon the President and his party.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Its funny to me how it seems that our political office tends to switch every 4-8 years, between democrat, and republican. I don't identify as either. I Identify as an urban explorer and a guy. I read an article about Taiwan and they have a very good supply of masks and people are going to school and able to gather in groups of up to 100 people but everyone has to wear masks! Hopefully other parts of the world can ramp up their mask supply and in a couple weeks we can go out and explorer again with one another as long as we wear masks.

Here is the article

"Wearing masks in public could be next big step in fight against coronavirus"
