New guy from Dallas here; Recently did my first explore

I went and checked out an old abandoned incinerator out in Fort Worth for my first explore. I couldnt find too much info on it, but it was apparently built in the 1950's, and has been abandoned for quite some time. This heavily tagged building is said to be one of the most tagged in the state. Though I am not into tagging, this place could almost be considered a constantly evolving museum. I was surprised that two separate groups showed up while we there to do some tagging, so it is quite active for the tagging community. I'd usually say this is a shame, but this is a rare case where I would say it is actually quite impressive. I'm having a hell of a time figuring out the forums and image size limits, so I will try to include pictures, but here is a video link of the explore. https://youtu.be/n13nLnaq7lA1 Thanks for checking out this thread. If anybody is looking for any exploration companions, feel free to hit me up. It was a pain because of all of this Covid19 stuff, but I finally managed to get my hands on a respirator, so I'm open to exploring just about anywhere.

I've been to the incinerator (there is another good post of this location that is fairly recent from there from another new member here: https://uer.ca/for...=1&threadid=131214).
You have posted the first "COVID" tag that I've seen so far, btw. That, and the fact that I don't recognize any of those other tags is a good indication that the taggers are still hard at work on that location.
I've only been there once, and it was at a time when my mind was definitely not "in the game," so to speak. Your post makes me think maybe it's time for a revisit soon.
Keep checking in on this forum page because I know a couple of the older members are working hard to hopefully coordinate a meet-up in the near future. I'm sure they'll add the info to a post in this forum when they do. Meeting other members in person is what really got me passionate about exploring, not to mention the friendships that have evolved over the last few years.

I'm also a resident of DFW and look forward to seeing more of your posts.
Cheers, Dee

Welcome to UER!

It was definitely a very active location for taggers. Not sure if it is because spring had just started or not, but we passed a group heading out when we were coming in (not sure if they were tagging) and like in the post you shared with me here, two groups showed up to tag while we were there. I asked if I could film them tagging but each group acted like they didnt even hear me.

A meet up sounds awesome! Hopefully this Covid19 stuff calms down so we can all get together. I'd love to get to know some other explorers.

Anyway, thank you for the welcome to UER. I like it a lot here so far.

Yeah, I imagine they would have had to act pretty fast to get that covid tag up.
Ha, when I found the bomb I just kinda happened to look up and there it was. I was just like, hey little guy, whats up?

I've seen a few of the bombs, lol. As far away as Utah, actually.

Ive been seeing the little bomb stenciled in some really out of the way places since the early 2000s.. Pre UER!

Usually in same kinda places "sekto" had tagged. I mean some real out of the way places man, inside closets, underneath a 10000 gallon fuel tank, on the back of city earth moving equipment, this guy was everywhere OR several people practiced his same tag style.

Oh, that is pretty interesting about the bomb. From what Dee Ashley and Explorer Zero have said about it, I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for more. Now I'm wondering if there is any meaning behind it, or if it is just a coincidence. I'm gonna look into some tagging forums (I'm sure they exist; there's a forum for everything now right?) and ask around. I will report back if I find anything.

Do you guys know of any other common tags? Might have to come up with some kind of UER scavenger hunt!

I never was too interested in graffiti. I started seeing sekto tags everywhere. One on the guard rail of a busy Dallas freeway ramp, no other reason to go up there except I was trying to get a photo of downtown. Sekto was there. He was inside a factory that was sealed up until I, uhhum, created an opening. There was a tag out at the abandoned wildlife park. He was at the abandoned Naval Air Station. Freakin guy was everywhere. He got in more places than I did.

I think the little bomb is from some cartoon somebody here will know, I don't know Im to apathetic to look it up but there is / was Internet stuff about sekto. He is famous I guess.

Just doing a quick search for Sekto pulls up some dallas graffiti stuff... pictures of the tag on flickr and what not. I guess he's like the Dallas Banksy, or however you spell his name. I have seen his tags around though, cant recall where.
The bomb reminded me of something from super mario bros. I tried doing a google image search for it but pulled up nothing. I need to isolate the image from the rest of the picture and try again.
I admire some graffiti from an artist's perspective, but most of it tends to be sloppy. Probably from kids thinking that they are being cool. I'm surprised what some people are able to do with a can of spray paint when I could barely do it with a pencil or brush.

Indeed. Some are quite talented. Sekto just tagged his name to prove he was there I think, not artsy fartsy like Banksy.

I can appreciate it but don't see putting spray paint on someone elses building as art.

I be interested in it's origins.
That make a bitching tatt and mind you I rarely say that.
A very nice piece of bold graphic art...

I’m not a huge graffiti fan either, but there’s a local group of taggers that are pretty good. They go by KTK (I think it stands for “Kids to Krooks”). I met a couple of them inside the T and P warehouse a few years back and it turned out that most of the decent tags around Ft Worth are theirs. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d pick “Think,” one of the KTK kids. “Many,” and “Slave(r)” are part of that crew too I think. It’s been interesting to watch thim evolve and get better over the last few years. They seem to use the T and P warehouse a lot. The tags don’t bother me as much in there, mostly because that location is basically a giant shell at this point.
