I don't exactly like swapping lenses on location.. and zoom lens have their own issues. This makes me ask you all. If you can only bring one prime lens for an entire UE outing, which would it be?

28mm. Do it all the time. Very versatile. It's the widest that still's considered "Normal View".

50 L. There are not many "issues" with any generation of the Canon L 24-70's...
Posted by The Juge It depends on what body you have. I have a 35mm on crop frame Nikon body, which means essentially I have a 52.5mm. If you put a 50mm on a crop frame body it's like using a 75mm. I do like to use the 35mm though

Yeah I'm thinking for full frame... not crop bodies.

I'd say 24 is the most useful focal imo, cause you can use it as much for wide shots and close ups. With a 2.8 aperture or less you can get a good dof depending of the subject. (im actually meaning 24mm on fullframe, likely 16 on crop-sensor)

The Zeiss 35mm f2.0 is becoming my new favorite go-to lens.

My Sony 28mm f2 prime is best for not swapping (good low light and compact), but I enjoy my 16-35mm f4 the most (both are full frame) and find myself using it more than the other even though it’s not as fast as the former.

For those who are not very familiar with cameras, allow me to give you some recommandations depending on your camera sensor size and what you like to do.
If you have an APS-C sensor
- If you're interested into large shots, then it's probably good to take a lens between 10 and 18 mm. The aperture will not be that good so you'll probably need a tripod for darker shots
- If you're interested into details photos, a lens between 24 and 50mm with an aperture starting f1.8 would be good so you can have a lot of light and a good depth of field for those who like background blur (do not abuse of this ).
- If you're interested into both, then a lens going somewhere from 18 to 50mm would be a good option since it's the most versatile type of lense (usually the lense kit sold with your camera).
If you have a Full Frame sensor
- If you're interested into large shots, then it's probably good to take a lens between 16 and 24 mm. The aperture can be a problem but usually FF lenses are good on that.
- If you're interested into details photos, a lens between 30 and 50mm with an aperture starting f1.8 would be good so you can have a lot of light and a good depth of field for those who like background blur (do not abuse of this ).
- If you're interested into both, then a lens going somewhere from 24 to 50mm would be a good option since it's the most versatile type of lense (usually the lens kit sold with your camera).
I personaly have a Full Frame sensor on a Canon 5D Mark IV. My Best go to lens is a 24mm cause I can get great large shots with that and sometimes get closer since the depth of field is really cool. The distortion is a problem when you get close to your subject but you can easily correct that with Lightroom or any other soft.

Usually I stick with a 35mm lens on a Canon 90d when I’m just casually shooting around a site, or even in general.

It's nice to carry 2 bodies ie 2 lens. An older full frame pro model good shape would do. One prime ain't gonna cut it...
