loss of objectivity

Ok, I have this picture see. I took it a couple months back in an abandoned nursing home. It is of my daughter.

We went into a large room that in a prior life had a large mirror as a wall. Large rough chunks of glass/mirror were strewn around.

I had my daughter pick a chunk of mirror with my iphone I took a single picture, I did not think about it again.

I few weeks later I am going through them and find it. I absolutely fell in love with it, no post processing, no digital effects.

I showed it to a few people and they were like meh, cool i guess. I dont get it? Is it just my lack of objectivity with my daughter?

Please tell me

EDIT: my daughter said it would make a good NPC icon in an RPG game of some kind but even she was nonplussed.

A great photo. People who don't get it. Are people who don't understand why you are where you are in the first place most likely.

How old is your daughter? Mine is 3 and a half. She shows interest in the photos of abandoned things I show her. So, I hope the interests sticks.

At first. She didn't like them, because, "they're broken". Now, she likes the broken things. Sweet, and funny.

Keep it up. And, normal people probably aren't a good standard of judgement. It really is good.

I think it's looks great. Reminds me of my adventurous middle daughter. As a teen, she was always up for exploring something cool.

You and your daughter are sharing some precious time together, unlike most families. She is getting an alternative education of sorts, which is better than most kids these days.

I love that picture. The obvious subject is interesting to me, bur the context just adds to it. I also love the way the light kinda spills into the corners of the frame.
