This is a pretty well known ghost town and can serve as a fun afternoon out and about. The town was abandoned sometime after World War II as the new interstate highway system changed routes and gas technology changed how far cars could drive on a gallon or two. The buildings sit overgrown and dilapidated in the curve of a country back road. You're sure to see a tractor or two drive by out to the tobacco fields if you choose to stop and check it out. These photos were taken in the high summer of 2019. It was a really hot day and I'm pretty sure the UV reading was 9-10. This poor girl was not ready to move from Alaska to southern sun like that - but in the name of exploring, she made due.

Nice photos. I know where that one is. I need to take a road trip South and visit.

Damn... This looks so cool. If only it were warm again and the plant life was flourishing. I'll have to remember this one! Nice shots!

The song Tobacco Road keeps playing my head now...
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. | |
Beautiful shots.
